Re: Ebay / Etsy alert

Half Mast, I can't speak for Gloverall, but I think it's usually the case with topcoats that the size marked makes allowances for wearing layers and sweaters underneath.  I'd guess the 36 would work for you, and the M might be too big.  Their site doesn't mention anything in this regard however, so it may be worth calling or emailing before dropping the big bucks.

I wonder where Gloverall gets the authenticity from? wink

Re: Ebay / Etsy alert

Started wearing duffle coats when I was a kid in the 60s but haven't owned one for a long while and never owned a Gloverall.

Trying one for size is the sensible option but I'm not sure how easy they are to find in the (UK) shops. On paper, I think the small size seems the most appropriate. However, I need to purchase some basic staples first before considering this "investment" piece, so that leaves me with a lot of time for research & window shopping.

Good luck with your hunt Oliver.

Could always take a shot ordering the 36 and then return and size up if necessary.

Re: Ebay / Etsy alert

There's another duffle company to rival Gloverall. I can't remember the name but they're featured on The Weejun's blog. They are tasty, although they do have a zip (the only update to the classic style).

Edit! Sorry, but I meant: beneath the buttons is a concealed zip.

The Schott NYC duffle is good.  Also with a zip.

Re: Ebay / Etsy alert

Mate of mine bought one of the Gloverall ones recently, he's an inch taller than me 5'11" but slimmer build, he takes a 36" - 38" sport coat - he bought the XS as the S swamped him - I think a Small would be the correct size for someone wearing a sport coat or a Norwegian knit underneath.
