And I'd thought it was just me who was having problems. I have a 'Charles Smith' - made in Holland - but need alternatives. Brown leather, not too wide, modest buckle. Too much flapping around!

Marvellous examples in JS at present - made by McRostie (I think it is). Bridle leather, horseshoe buckle. Like old Canterburys. £££ of course...

Edwin jeans seem to lack sufficient loops - unlike Levis. The belts at Chiltern Street are nice, but, yes £££ - and I currently have my eye on an original 'Jazz On A Summer's Day' poster - also £££... Decisions, decisions...

I have the McRosties in brown and black, excellent quality, expensive yes,but they’ll never need replacing, Anderson belts are also very good quality, probably slightly cheaper,

I'm a fan of Anderson belts and you can sometimes find them at a reasonable price in TK Maxx. Got one on at the moment in Burgundy that seems to go with almost every colour and type of trousers

I must take a visit to TKM , seems Robbie you find some real bargains there, I guess it takes a lot of rummaging, I also have a burgundy woven stretch surcincle belt by Anderson, (and a couple of others in leather), got for a good price online from some retailer in Essex somewhere,

TKMaxx is a destination 1 hour walk for me as part of my walking exercise. I probably go there 10 times for every 1 purchase I've become skilled at scanning racks to find bargains. This week's bargain was made in England socks by pantherella
My burgundy belt is also the woven stretch type.

Yes! to Anderson belts - And TKMaxx. It does take a lot of rummaging. And a lot of wasted trips. Like RobbieB I probably purchase 1 in 10 times, but have had some great finds at ridiculous prices, Pendleton, Brooks, Gant, Lee 101's, Shetlands, Sperry, Bass, Sebago - it's all been there at some point, hidden among the dross, and 'made for outlets' Ralph Lauren stuff. Which isn't bad in itself.

Always makes me chuckle to see someone approach an assistant clutching an item and asking if they have it in a different size.

You do have to love a jumble sale though. I do. And charity shops. Put me in a well ordered M&S or neat and tidy menswear store (one item of each size on display) and I haven't got a clue what's going on!

You're definitely right there Robbie, 10 visits per one purchase. My local one has gone downhill, so I will be venturing into Guildford Saturday as the TK Maxx, has a more quality. One of my best finds has been a pair of Selvedge Edwin's,(which I've seen retailed elsewhere at £200) for £39.99.

Runninggeez. Nice Folk selvedge indigos in Guildford when I was in last week. Not a label I’m keen on but they’re solid. Nice enough rise. Had both straight and slim. I also picked up some Edwins a while ago. In fact I’m beginning to wonder if it isn’t you that’s going in the local stores and scooping up the stuff I was undecided about but have returned for to find them gone?!

I noticed in the summer my local TKMaxx was at an all time low but now it seems to have improved with a lot of new stock. They do sell a lot of dross but for the sussed people on this site it's possible to find real bargains. It helps that when it comes to pricing they are all over the place.

A continuing problem as far as I'm concerned, especially now I'm shedding weight.
Did I dream this or should you never wear a belt with jeans? I think they'd look odd, to say the least of it.

Back when I used to sit in the bath waiting for my jeans to shrink 1 inch in the waist and 4 inches in the leg I never wore a belt. Today l wear a belt with jeans and most trousers. Jeans in UK seem to come in 32 34 36 sizes whereas the US used to also do 33 35 etc. as well. I always seem to be in the 33 or 35 range so a belt helps. I also seem to be between an M and L for tops. Bloody annoying buying stuff online.
