This seller's clearing out his vintage Brooks 38 stock - the sand colored cord is especially nice:

Re: Ebay / Etsy alert

Definitely late-fifties!

If I weren't travelling for 5 weeks in just under three months, I'd click "buy it now" in a second and have it altered. What a killer jacket!

The used code (sho) on the union label as well as the style identify it smile

Re: Ebay / Etsy alert

40 to 39 is really nothing if you have a tailor (not just alterationist) who understand jacket construction and what to do. I've done the same as Leer, 43-44 all the way down to 38, and believe it or not, it fits like it were tailormade. I can't count the number of size 40s I've cut down. I don't do it as much because I only trust my Montreal tailor for that kind of surgery, but I wish I could afford to pull the trigger on this jacket.

Re: Ebay / Etsy alert

You talked me into it. This is the third jacket I've bought this year, the other 2 being too ill-fitting to be altered - I'm not going to mess with shoulders, however as this one should be a straight forward half (or even quarter) inch out of each side, and nothing more, I'm sure my tailor will come up trumps. He loves replicating vintage handstitching. I think it's a bit small for a 40 anyway (not length wise fortunately), so maybe I can even wear it as is. Roll on the cold weather!

Yeah, good for you man!

A jacket that fine deserves to be worn by a man of high standing. Hope it works for you!

Re: Ebay / Etsy alert

Ding Dong Chuck...yep...I had many arguments with an ex about dungarees and the likehe he...clothes always won of course...and why I just can't seem to settle down and have to get by as a 2 bob gigolo these days...
Tom Joad indeed Sir...just google that on the images front and that's what REALLY chalks my cue...

Can't say I've ever met any Americans into this kinda thing outside of having to wear it on a practical working level... and harks back to discussions in recent days...

But this look remains a ridiculously ingrained fascination to me.. but hey! What ya gonna do, eh?!?

You dig what you dig...
