Re: On bow ties.

The reversible ties that I see look quite jarring to me.  I think I prefer the same pattern on both sides.  Same with the ones with 2 different ends.  I like the symmetry of one pattern.

Drummers are usually happy to entertain, or at least act / look like idiots for the benefit of everyone else.

Re: On bow ties.

Had a bow tie related conversation with an older guy the other day and thought of this thread.

He mentioned that when he was working in manufacturing many years ago, you could always tell the draftsmen in the factory by their bow ties.  Apparently, they wore them because they wouldn't drag across the blueprints they were working on like a long necktie would.

Re: On bow ties.

Which reminds me, I forgot to talk about the different bow tie knots. What do you use TEM?

Re: On bow ties.

I guess it's just the standard bow tie knot.  I'm not sure what it's called, but it's the same knot I use for my shoelaces!

Re: On bow ties.

Years ago, I bought a beautiful cashmere bow tie by Ralph Lauren and never wore it. I could never justify any bow tie, let alone a bushy cashmere one. Now that the mood is pro-bow tie and I want to wear it, i cant find it!

I recently tried a printed bow tie from http://birddogbay.com/shop/ties/ties-bow-ties. The silk has a light, crisp feeling to it evocative of summery, preppy bow ties.

Also, SEIGO of Japan make amazing bow ties. The silk is often woven but it is a very light, soft silk and gives the mood of a lighter, printed silk. They come in several shapes and they will make a silk for you in a different stock size or shape for a slight surcharge. Being a Japanese chain, I have a feeling they would be happy to send you images of their stock. http://seigoneckwear.blogspot.com/
