The Longer Tie.

Who does em? I'm not over impressed with the selection on offer from Drakes or Shibumi at the moment. Any suggestions of other sites gentlemen?

I need a longer tie too. Van Bucks ties are mostly longer http://www.vanbuck.com/index.php/limited_edition_ties/?k=:2::

Re: The Longer Tie.

I don't have an issue with tie length, they all seem pretty decent lengths to me. Why do you need longer ones, for the knot used?

Re: The Longer Tie.

I need a longer one as I'm 6'5" of pure sex god, Cat. I can and do wear the standard length but they just don't cut the mustard as well. Its quite depressing looking at sites and seeing some fantastic ties but knowing they'll be short on the back blade on me. Let alone being a bit of a cad and wearing the back blade an inch or two longer, should it end up that way when tied. Its a constant battle getting the length right.

One of those things you never thought about til you get a tie a longer length. I sometimes think taking an interest in dressing beyond the "norm" is a bit of a curse really.

Re: The Longer Tie.

I have a special tie knot technique for dealing with short vintage ties, it's not perfect, but it can make the difference between an ending above the belly button disaster and something quite acceptable. Of course, in the winter months, there's always v-neck shirts.

Re: The Longer Tie.

Not keen on the look of those long ties.

You'd have to be careful wearing a tie with such a long blade, you may look like you're walking about with your c*ck hanging out.

Re: The Longer Tie.

Depends how well you know me. I wouldn't wear the end of the tie to my knee.

Re: The Longer Tie.

Anyone tried Exquisite Trimmings? I'm drawn to the one below in brown, digging the colour.  Thoughts on number of folds best suited to this cloth?

Re: The Longer Tie.

Yes, I was thinking that about the material. Which of course would be a factor in deciding folds and interlining. 4 folds, lightest lining and super cock length long then.

As ever with online shopping its a bit of a gamble...

Re: The Longer Tie.

Shibumi has just added some new cloths. I've gone for the Repp in the link. 165cm, 8.5 blade, no monogram (spew) or loop and hand rolled tip. 3 fold.
http://www.shibumi-berlin.com/Bespoke/Repp-Stripe-Bespoke-Tie-Navy-Burgundy-Wool::1703.html?MODsid=c4d587d98fd0e5cf42357b8549f7a170

Their also doing an offer til the 5th..."Shibumi Fukubukuro. Fukubukuro is a Japanese custom where merchants sell mystery bags at the beginning of the new year for steep discounts. Here at Shibumi this means three mystery ties for 200€. Among them 7-folds, ties from present and past collections, but no knit ties. Of course only a limited amount of packages is available; orders can be made until January 05 and will then be shipped. For returning customers, we will of course take care that you don’t get a tie twice. The best way to start the new year, with a little thrill and a set of new ties! We wish you all the best for 2016!"...only on their standard lengths though.

Other Shibumi news..."Trunkshow London. We will be in London on January 16th to present our current collection at the Dugdale showroom. Exclusive for this trunkshow, we will take orders for bespoke ties with Dugdale’s beautiful fabrics."...2 Mill Lane, Mayfair, London. 11am-7pm. Might be worth a look see if your about. Lovely ties.
