I think Shooey gets a bit excited about this stuff..but in large parts he is correct...the ancient knowledge allows for two distinct paths with its use.. the left hand path reflects everything that Bowie and his idols such as Crowley worked towards and achieved. Ie the breaking of taboos in society. It all can be read up on it's not nonsense.. and to any sensible person it makes sense... trouble is it gets shrouded in so much symbolism and hysteria the whole point of it gets missed. Magic and the occult is our ability to create our own favourable outcomes by manipulating the mechanisms of the universe.

Indeed, it's no accident that Jung would deal himself a tarot deck now and then.
Take control, equally as influential on Bowie was Burroughs, another protagonist engaged in voodoo alchemy.
Aren't you?
Well this is it Hep..theirs is self-serving, which I think is the point shoo makes. I was just trying to define it in more honest terms as to what it is. 'Magic' has the ability to be more than self serving..which is why there are the two distinct paths one selfish the other not. Shooey is talking about their actions over us as to allow them to dictate our behaviour and achieve their wanted outcomes. Which is why he calls music and tv spells.
It's not really rocket science..its just a matter of influence. And I suppose the more we consider it bullshit the more effect it can have because then we dont consider it. Im not really on Shooeys tip..I think he may have gone down the rabbit hole but I understand what he's getting at...I think he sees it too black and white though.

666 is my lucky number.
Well... he was ok, but i failed to understand the big hype. "Helden" was great in a Christane F. context. Let's Dance was quite good, because it very much captured the post-Punk early 1980ies spirit, the square early digital drum sounds, the still analogue but "cold" production technique (gated reverb on snare dum etc). It makes me think of men like the Spandau Ballet guys with they assyrian haircuts and Richard Gere in those baggy Armani jackets.
But Bowie's overall big picture...same for me like Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry, or even Steely Dan. They sound so bored when they sind. Way back then, we called this "A-Levels music" (as opposed to Italo Disco of the Koto/Jabdah kind which clearly was "O-Levels music"). Brainy. Too intellectual.

Yes but that would the dark and shelfish side of magic Shoo. What about white magic/right hand path..? You use the knowledge for good.. eg. a surgeon using knowledge to save a life? The understanding of how to heal and purify..herbalism etc..these things are to benefit.. if you understand things the same way I do you know what I mean. I dont see it in grand symbolism im talking about the obvious flow of things and how we are part of that flow..the quantum world manifests in our world the ability to control outcomes is what we wish for and once whatvwe prayed for..knowledge of these things give us control, and it's the choice of the person what they do with that knowledge... in popular culture we see it in Lord of the Rings which itself is based on the Pilgrim's Progress and of course the ideas found in Starwars darkside being neutralised by the light.
Although the ideas are dressed as fairytales is it not obvious to see that people have the ability to manipulate and control to some degrees outcomes with their knowledge and intelligence many work to these outcomes benefiting them but some peoole..lets call them good people have the ability to save, heal and work outwardly with theirs?
In simple terms the dark or black absorbs energy and traps it...white reflects all light it gives energy back.. these are the two polarities which energy flow round
In the past it was called magic..lets just call it the knowledge of things and those with the knowledge become better at manipulating outcomes for better or for worse...
Anyway so how does this tie in with Bowie he was someone that could manipulate vibrations. .light, sound and emotion to benefit himself. He studied Crowley he used the imagery and ideas..he knew what he was doing..if you read the basic prerequisite of left hand path magic you see he carried out a lot of what it writes about social taboos etc and sex. He gained personal wealth from it and power..but not everyone was caught up in it. In summary he used the knowledge for personal gain..he may have done some good with it too..like I said, it's not all as black and white as you make out shoo..there is a lot of middle ground
Ill leave you with a song...

I'm closer to the Golden Dawn, immersed in Crowley's uniform of imagery. I'm living in a silent film portraying Himmler's sacred realm of dream reality.
Here we are one magical movement from Kether to Malkuth.
^ Indeed so.
The Sephirot being mystical and arcane are, by very definition, occult. Language as symbols, symbols as ideas, ideas as power.

Everything is amoral. Morals are a human construct.
Yeah adorable, didn't you know that Bop is the only poster who has ever been educated?
I thought the whole point of getting into esoteric ritual, Golden Dawn, cut-up and graffiti magick is to free yourself from the herd and become a superman with the intention of storming the reality studio? Case in point: Bowie, he successfully executed this in music and style-wise on several occasions in the 70s and early 80s.
The question now from his two parting videos is whether he was possessed by daemons, genius or some other trickster type entity?
Jewish teachings dont allow for practical Kabbalah, it is protected because they believe it is too corrupting. What we see above is the use of it with practical magic/occult. So if you look at it in Jewish terms you're already screwed just to start trying to use it practically...
Saying that those that use it outside of Jewish teachings aren't supposed to even be using the correct knowledge..it something that has been reimagined to suit its practitioners since the middle ages.
Again saying that those that do practice it recognise the three paths..the left, the right and the centre.
So in Jewish terms yes this is all amoral use for someone not prepared to practice it, in terms of practical magic..knowledge itself is neutral..it sits on the centre line..you either use it to serve yourself or others or both!
