Re: Dressing the Blazer...

Essential kit for exotic travel to emerging markets where the respect for old colonial types lingers on. Don't waste time with grey business suits, they'll appreciate you more as you walk through the door resplendent in your navy blazer gifts in hand. But nothing of value of more than 25 Euros of course.

Re: Dressing the Blazer...

I like mine with jeans, shirt on the white to blue scale, brown suede boots or loafers. Can't do it with a tie any more.

Of course it should have brass buttons.

Re: Dressing the Blazer...

It took me a long time to come around to blazers, but the versatility in a single breasted in navy hopsack or doeskin is a sure winner, especially whem travelling. Ideal with or sans tie. Smart enough to wear to meetings and sporty enough when off duty. You have to get the trousers right, not too matching, light greys or beiges are ideal.

Re: Dressing the Blazer...

Could have done without that Lady Chatterley's Lover shirt style thing, apart from that and actually wearing a blazer I reckon DC looks great.

Re: Dressing the Blazer...

Excellent choice, I was debating to sport a similar colour and patterned shirt for my trip today, but decided to go with a Viyella shirt last night. Checking the weather today though, it's going to be between 18-24 degrees centigrade where I am going so may ditch the Viyella for the pink check.

Re: Dressing the Blazer...

It ain't a blazer if it ain't got brass.

I've got a blue sport coat but I'd punch myself in the dick before I called it a blazer.

Re: Dressing the Blazer...

Hahaha.  Fair point, Dog.  But see, the jacket does have brass.  Just not bright gold brass.

Re: Dressing the Blazer...

If you're wearing a solid blue sport coat, it's either a blazer or an orphaned suit jacket.  Just go ahead and call it what it is.  We accept you.

From the above offerings, I like 604, 602, 601, 600.  I'd really be asking for it in 407 and 421.

Re: Dressing the Blazer...

I was in Frankfurt airport last Sunday and lo and behold there was this vision of a blazer sporting baffoon of an intrepid business traveller: well fitting navy blazer - nothing wrong there - but alas, everything else was wrong, unless he was a clown in the Moscow state circus; bright white shirt with some bright orange, red, green riot of vomit kipper tie, white summer boating pants and a pair of awful trainers/sneakers in a similar garrish colour scheme. How to get it wrong spectacularly, still he appeared to be in 1st class, so he must be doing something right.
