To each his own. I think navy over white is sharp, personally, although I have nothing that is so-called optic or duck white in chinos, just stone or oyster, and I think this keeps it toned down a notch.

I ended up getting the East India Company blazer buttons in silver and they've worked a treat. I put them on the hopsack blazer I got from Darcy, the brand is Roger Kent, never heard of them, probably long gone now. Anyway, they had some awful cheap looking gilt anchor ones before, looked a bit grotty and overworn. The new buttons have made a big difference. They're really quite subtle and refined.

I don't see anything wrong with that for a Blazer that will be worn in the colder months, a summer blazer can cut a bit sloppy also to give off a touch of nonchalance I suppose.

I've given up on trying to make a sweater work under a jacket, just can never get comfortable. I just use a sweater vest if needed.

What about all your bumpf in the inside chest pockets: wallet, mobiles, glasses cases, etc? I always factor in these items as well, which on a more trim fitting OTP jacket and be a deal killer on a size.

Here in mainland Europe, blazers are not really that popular, along with repp ties. You can sport these and be confident that you are not emulating the herd. Not so button-downs, they've become overly exposed in the last few years and have reached the lowest common denominator and hipster street level. I've strayed away from them, as they have entered the beige windsheeter as worn by certain elderly gents territory.
