I know full well Formby... however...his tailoring abilty doesnt equate to his own ability to dress himself particularly well, especially in terms of colours and pattern, he might sometimes do well in his little turtle neck but that guy cannot match colour for toffee..and some nutter stuff looks god awful. A good mechanic doesnt necessarily make a good driver, or a good builder might not do a good job interior designing the living room, these are different jobs.
But in the case above what Im talking about is obvious, style comes from a different place than the clothes even though its the clothes that are used to express it, you dig kemosabe?
Hep understands the hoodoo, maybe he can explain it better, although Im not sure he agrees in this case
--> you know what truly was moronic? The Esquire UK's spelling it "Brian" ... call him an icon, spell his name correctly ..... I assume you knew to spell it .....

/\ yes, I would call them art-rock, too ... but they started out glammy, Eno's make-up etc., they brought art to the glam and glam to the art ....
re These Foolish Things, I've had it on vinyl for forty years, bought it with the other available solo albums shortly after Siren was released in '75 .....
great, great version of A Hard Rain's A Gonna Fall ... as fine a cover as Leon Russell's ... possibly superior ....
It aint matchy matchy... its an interplay of dissonance and consonance and the tension and release it brings. That is where the magic happens... you just cant judge things very well...ie you are inept at balancing the material elements or judging it when you see it... im not saying that im any greatmaster myself..but at least Im aware of the principles..and know what Im looking for in the work of others. I really dont think you have the first clue Formby and Ive never seen anything to suggest otherwise. Your trainer choices were awful, the things you post about on here again awful...yet a paragraph of pontificated text that often someone else has written doesnt really cut the mustard.
You may think Im the one being dogmatic, im not Im putting forward a notion of the fundamental underpinning of aesthetics that allow many takes of well executed style
The hoodoo can be explained...but it is best experienced.
I think that would be a fine discussion myself.
/\ Talking Heads, love the second album so much, that's the one ..... not really influenced by Roxy Music but definitely by the first three Eno solo albums, particularly Taking Tiger Mountain, and also influenced clearly and heavily by Velvet Underground, Modern Lovers, and Television ........
