Not too big and used for diving. No batteries. Just wear it and forget about it.
Date should be bigger and also awkward to screw the winder back into the crown after moving the date/hour.

Indeed, and tomorrow be ready for some serious Seiko action!
A watch I quite like at the moment is the Longines Railroad watch, looks really neat in the flesh:

That is very nice.
Tried on the Longines Conquest Heritage last week. Beautiful watch. A local dealer is looking for £550 for a very nice pre-loved example.

The dial is beautiful.
The strap on this one is a terribly cheap looking one. Original to the watch but really lets it down. How was the strap on yours?
Aye, the original black strap was decidely average and in any case a brown strap really suits the gold dials.
^ Tissot visodate costs less than the Longines and has similar retro appeal.
Longines name/brand/image not helped by Swatch ownership. Second hand dealers claim back in the day it had much higher status.
I like this version of the Visodate;

Well I like a Swiss movement. That's why I eat all that muesli.
Yawn, you Welsh Guinness drinking bore.
Allright, don't get wound up.
