I like the gingham seersucker.
100% cotton, smooth and soft but not shiny at all. Supplied to us by one of the top mills in the UK.
Any bespoke or made to measure from H and J ?
Thank you.
Hi -
I'm just road testing things I've read and been told. I agree with you about "The Essence of Ivy". But what do you do when you can't get what you want? I think the clothes from H and J are remarkable in style and price. Amazing. I'm interested that they do not offer trousers as there is insufficient demand. There seems to be various sea changes going around at the moment; Mark Powel doing ready to wear. H and J adding rtw to their vintage range.
Oh for the days when there was more Ivy to choose from. Now the range is very limited when compared to what once was. MTM Ivy seems to be a very hit and miss affair requiring a lot of risk taking and trial and error at the moment. Even then it is out of the price range of most people. Bespoke is a safer bet but then you are talking seriously silly money: I do not have £400 for a shirt or £3.5K for a jacket. Prices I was quoted the other day. £800 for a pair of flannels? I don't doubt that the workmanship and choice you get for your money is a cut above the norm. But I have to question the profit margins going on there.
H and J could fill a gap neatly there if they wished. Affordable tailor made Ivy. Who else is doing that?
Add to that the perennial issue of getting a sack to fit 'just right'.
Please someone let me know when H&J offers something near the size below. I am getting so jealous!
Shoulder: 17-17.25"
Pit-to-Pit: 20-20.5"
BOC: 28.5"
I want and am ready to order a H&J, hopefully followed by many more. However right now I want a plain(or close) light/mid blue summer jacket. The gingham jacket looks perfect if it wasn't gingham. I love the Gingham but it's just a step too far for work. Buy it for non work, I hear you say! That is tempting but I really want a work jacket right now. Neither H&J or Keydge seem to have one around. I'm tempted by the Vetra I posted up the other day at Present but would prefer a H&J given the guys involved and the work to get to here.

Thanks Chris, that looks great. I'll go take a look at FB. I'm sure that will be a popular choice for many.
Let's stay calm. There's only two great guys in H&J, sold direct through relationships here and in FB. It's a brilliant small scale operation with the right details and sympathetic context in their photos, but let's avoid hype.
Enthusiasm is the curse of youth? I'll dial it back. But I do like what they do.
FOR SALE or SWAP: Beautiful Hardy & Johnson Jacket. Never worn. Has sat in the wardrobe since last xmas. Its just a bit too big for me everywhere ( shoulders, waist, chest, sleeves, length) and I judged there was too many alterations to do. Vary sad as its a beautiful grey herringbone with a feint windowpane over the top. The pics are pretty true to colour although H&J described it as a brown - I'd say its definitely grey - toward brown perhaps.
I think they describe it as Lightweight Wool. The full monty - swelled edges, 3 patch pockets, single vent, etc, etc
Size 42.
Price 80GBP /$135aud - plus post. Or I would swap for a Size 40 H&J jacket in good condition. Contact me at fxholden at g mail.com

I hope this is more than a fleeting visit Fxh?

I was wondering if anyone out there in Ivyland had bought a size 48 from H&J for two reason, 1st off feed back on fit etc, and 2nd, would you like to sell it?

I remember them taking preorders of 48 on the summer jackets, and it states it on the FB page, I dont know if any were produced though.
