yes, patch pockets are nice but natural shoulders and a close fit around the neck are the most important criteria for me ......

Re: Ivy League style for today

Most ties run out at 57", a few makers offer alternative lengths of 54" or 61" for taller or shorter customers, although this is less common now than it was in days of yore. As I'm of average height most ties are okay for me. But I have had a 61" tie, that I was particularly fond of, cut down by an alterations tailor.

That's a classic tweed, rep tie, OCBD combo Walker, shoes and trousers look good too.

Re: Ivy League style for today

you should be able to adjust the tie so that it bottoms out where you want it to before knotting it ... or just tie a fatter knot like a Windsor, and pull it tight alright?

this has always worked for me .... just pulled out a navy and silver J. Press Burlington knot circa 1987, 57 inches, standard, hits me right, I'm like 5'9"

glad to be able to participate in discussions like these even though I had to dress way way down today

black/orange Incontinence pants University of Miami t-shirt, brown Levi's cord shorts, blue/blue ribbon/webbing C-buckle sailfish motif belt, brown grosgrain ribbon rubber flip-flops, yellow-lensed Oakleys

couldn't wait to get home and change into something more casual after the game though

Thanks for the advice BB, woof & stanhall, I Hve this problem a lot with my ties as I’m 5 ft 7” (short ass) but I’ll take note and be back with a shorter tie and less high trousers smile
