As a few of you know i have been on a health kick for the last few months and have dropped quite a bit of poundage.
Today i dug out a pair of Vintage khaki USA made 501s that haven't fitted me in years. (they are a 36 waist).
Narrow at the hem ,nice long rise just below the navel. they are a nice pair of five pockets.
Anyone else like this sort of thing? Is there a place in the cannon for them?
Wrangler makes the 13MWZ in a sort of khaki as well. I think they'd look great with a short sleeve button down and some sneakers for that warm weather ivy look.
Mr Chensvold has championed them in the past. I approve.
I like them, got some Lees - good with a SS BD and loafers.
I've got a couple of pairs of 501s in dark and medium khaki, good with a navy blue wash'n'wear sack jacket.
What about jeans masquerading as chinos? You know the score, they're clearly constructed out of jean material, but the brand and sales assistant insists they are chinos.
^ ha ha - but they're not going to get away with that with the likes of us are they?
John Simons used to stock some fantastic khaki jeans and 5 pocket trousers by Liberto, a French (or maybe Spanish) label. The trousers were made of a chinoesque type fabric and they were a great halfway house when you wanted a casual look but smarter and cooler than a denim. Unfortunately Liberto seem to have stoppped trading and the supply has dried up. John Simons have had some 5 pocket trousers made up locally under the JS label to try and fill the gap for their Liberto hungry customers and the other day I bought a pair. I was quite sanguine about them when I tried them on in the shop but after a couple of wearings I'm not so sure, the waistline seems a tad lower than I would like and I doubt I will ever enthuse about them.
^ Woof, Liberto are available on-line again ( only went live in the last few weeks).
I think the 'Cody' are the same style as the 5-pockets JS stocked.
My work stride of choice, very versatile and ideal for the under-the-radar satisfaction of wearing jeans to work.
Ideal for that under-the-desk satisfaction too. Very absorbent.

How do those 13MWZs fit? Do they have a good rise? ...Are they boot cut?
I like khaki jeans to dress things down but I have a hard time finding jeans with decent rises.
The colored denim have a slightly lower rise than the rigid denim, for some reason. I'd say they're still adequate relative to other "trendy" brands out there. They're a straight "boot cut" meant to fit over boots, but they're not flared like other "boot cut" jeans. I'd characterize them as having a legit straight leg.

That's a darn shame. In a related vein, I happened upon a pair of 5-pocket corduroys by none other than the brand Old Navy. They were a "Relaxed Fit," so they weren't exactly tapered but the rise was better than even my Brooks Brothers pants.
Further research has shown that, in Old Navy, the good rise is unique to the corduroy 5-pockets.
Darnedest thing.
Well, as part of an ongoing wardrobe reduction project I sold two pairs of Liberto jeans to Bradley, forum member and Etsy proprietor of Placid Vintage, I mailed them to him via Landmark Couriers. All great except that the jeans didn't arrive, according to the tracking the parcel never progressed beyond a distribution centre in Innswood, New York. The couriers conducted an 'investigation' but, unsurprisingly, there was no trace. All very disappointing as I had to give Bradley his dough back and put in a claim.
Now Berkeley, I know you reside in Innswood but I have ruled you out straight away as the jeans were a 29" inside leg. However, and I would like Stan's opinion on probable cause, I would ask you to be vigilant for bums, creeps, panhandlers, low life's, flim flammers, rip off artists ... anyone - wearing pale beige colour Liberto jeans in Innswood. If you do, please effect a citizens arrest immediately, contact me and I will arrange for the DA to nail their goddam ass.
Haha... "Innswood" or Inwood? If it's the former I can be truly exonerated, as I live in Inwood...
I'm sorry that happened woof, if it is indeed Inwood I'm not surprised, pretty much every system here is a clusterf*ck, anything mail-related especially. I've had many things lost/rerouted etc., usually with no notice left by the carrier... One Mercer OCBD shipped via UPS didn't arrive for about three months after it was supposed to be delivered... It's incredibly frustrating to entrust something valuable, either because it's one-of-a-kind vintage from eBay or Etsy, or an expensive new item (one that you may have already been waiting on for several months, like a Mercer), or something that will make you some money like your jeans, and have it disappear with no real accountability or even explanation...
Anyway, all this is just to say, I know international shipping can be rough, but if it makes you feel any better, I have to deal with it too, and I live here!
My jeans were inwards but they never got outwards. Maybe it was Innswood as that's Jamaica out near the airport. I guess your patrols don't extend that far.
