Re: So what are you driving these days?

Haha, the BMW can be a good choice, I have an aunt who gets hers custom because she likes a particular shade of red... They're expensive to keep on the road past a certain point, or so I've heard... I have a real soft spot for some old BMWs like the 2002...

When my car dies, which hopefully isn't for a long time, I'll either convert to 100% bicycle transport, buy a Honda Cub, or get an old Volvo or an MGB and make it run on vegetable oil...

Re: So what are you driving these days?

The idea of owning older second hand cars can seem appealing, but the reality is somewhat harsher.

All new cars by law these days have to meet a certain criteria with their emissions, due to EU legislation on pollution etc. These laws will become even more restrictive over the coming years.

Take the UK for example, from April 1st it's pretty much financial suicide owning a 10 year old car, especially within the congestion zone. Also, road tax can sometimes cost more than insurance.

My advice, admire and dream about old cars from afar - but don't buy one for a daily runaround.
