I'm in Norwich, Conn. for a couple days of genealogy with Mom. We're living large at the Holiday Inn. That's the big ticket item.
I also got some interesting books (though the names escape me right now) and a nice repp tie in blue and orange of the NY Mets. And a couple pairs of Darn Tough socks, which are really good for cold weather casual.
I got mom a plastic pickle that yodels when you press the button
A fantastic haul BB, although I think you need to consult a seamstress urgently about some of those pieces. Don't eat too much over the holiday period either, or you'll never get into those classic items of Ivy gear!
We are fortunate to be holidaying in NYC this Christmas. Patrols have been conducted around Brooks Bros, J Press and Kamakura, many nice things were on offer but nothing I really needed or wanted enough to take the plunge.
A pair of Alden Ranger Mocs have got my attention so I am deliberating hard on them. Of more concern to me right now are the 1996 Harley Davidson exhaust silencers (mufflers) I bought in an online auction from a guy in Los Angeles. I hit on the bright idea of having them delivered to our hotel but didn't really think about how long or heavy they are. Far too long to fit in my suitcase and being long metal tubular items I would probably never be able to take them onto an aircraft without sparking a security incident. I have reluctantly concluded that I will have to re-pack them and mail them to my self in the UK, which is going to cost over 100 dollars. But still far cheaper overall than buying them in the UK, assuming I could find any to begin with. First World problems!
Happy Holidays and New Year everybody!
Not much on the clothing front, just jumpers.
Some good books including the Ronnie Scotts 1959-1969 and Lamont Dozier ones and some about Bauhaus.
Nice haul of XXS clothing, BB. And "The Boys on the Bus" is a great book. All in all, everyone seems to be having a decent Christmas.
After dropping many unmissable hints in her direction, Mrs B. very kindly got me a pair of Paraboot Michaels.
Also got a few books, including William Dalrymple's history of the East India Company, "The Anarchy", in which I learnt that the first English colonial settlement in India was... Madras.
confirmed presents include a large piece of scleractinian coral, very beautiful
possible but as-yet unconfirmed presents include two new t-shirts, one from England and one from USA, they're probably under the tree across the country, I'll hopefully get to them in mid-January
Got myself a couple of sweaters. An Irish fisherman’s in blackwatch from O’Connell’s and a lovely, colorful Fair Isle Shetland from Jamiesons. The former is a Medium and is almost too big, the latter is an XXL and is almost too small(!)
Dad hat with my alma mater's crest stitched on, working with a buddy on a pair of repro 1940s officer chinos. Pretty satisfied overall B^)
