Whose slacks in 2019?

I'm having trouble finding quality slacks I really like, e.g. flat front, high rise, some room in the seat and thigh but tapered below the knee. Drake's is fine to me, but they're too damn expensive. I'd love to hear your suggestions.

I may add, I didn't have much luck on the vintage front as of yet. Given the high shipping rates from the US to Europe and additional fees for customs always make buying vintage a risky endeavor.

O'Connell's are the best by a country mile, but by the time you add in shipping and duties they are also quite expensive. Cordings are worth considering, decent cut and quality, no low waist trousers in their line up.

Thanks for the reply, woof. I know about O'Connell's but besides the hefty price tag you get when adding shipping and taxes, I'm quite frustrated with the (often lamented) lack of information regarding fit. They really don't give you much. Cordings I will look into – some of their models look pretty good at first glance!

O’Connells fit is what you are looking for.  I have a few pairs in each the regular cloth and the khyber cloth.  Regular cloth is a nice hard wearing twill while the khyber cloth is lightweight and great for hot or humid days.  Not the cheapest option but will purchase more when needed.

Thanks, Ed. I might give them a try one of these days.

I've heard good things about Berg & Berg, but at that price I'm pretty sure I could get a pair of trousers made to measure.

Really, Sid? MTM Flannel trousers? I couldn’t get MTM for that price around here, so I went ahead and ordered a pair. With a first customer discount of 10% they ended up costing about €240. I hope they won’t disappoint.

I'm sure they won't JJH.
Let's have a review once you get them please.

And.. yeah. I'd think £250 for a pair MTM trousers here (London). So, about the same price...

Re: Whose slacks in 2019?

Although I’m an O’Connell’s and J. Press guy, I typically keep my eyes peeled for good clobber.  I purchased a pair of Bladen Harpley needlecord trousers from Tweed Country Sports while in Stockholm a few years ago.   Nice mid-to high-rise, good room in the seat and thigh, and tapering down to (maybe)about an 8† hem.  I haven’t been able to locate Bladen goods domestically(here in New England), but I remember that even in Swedish Krona, the price point was very reasonable for such well-made trousers— the equivalent of about $180 USD.

Good looking out, walker, those look great. $98 isn't that bad. I'm also curious if anyone's heard anything...
