Hi all
just to let people know that a new family run cobblers in a tiny shop has opened in Nottingham, a proper one with bench who does the work in front of you. They also specialise in selling slightly discounted Loake shoes too. I ordered some black Loake derby's from them which arrived in a couple of days with free polish and laces provided too.
It's on Middle Pavement next to Carluccio's, down from Jamie Oliver's and Paul Smith.
Anyone visiting the city should take a look.
cheers
Mark
Great stuff. I'm all for tradition. I also think that T.I. should "cobble" together a town & city guide.
If anyone is intereested I could do the one for Nottingham, if not I could do a Goggle map.
Eight years I've been waiting for these guys to post up their favourite shoe repairers and ... nothing, nada, zip.
So here's mine: Michael's Shoe Repairs, Vauxhall, South London, a great enduring family business who I'm happy to support.

I've got 3 pairs of decent shoes with me in the tropics and all 3 need attention. I'm petrified of leaving them with anyone for fear that they will get butchered yet going to another continent to get shoes resoled is beyond my budget at present.
Anyone requiring shoe repairs in the East End then I can recommend this small business

This seems to be a reliable list (Tony’s heel bar is closed but sure it’s just under another name, used them last year for a cut in toe tap on my Alden’s and it was a neat job.

^ I do like a cut in toe tap. They make a nice noise and would be handy if you ever had to kick someone in the shins.
