Re: I am seriously thinking about doing the unthinkable --Nantucket Reds

I have never had a pair of embroidered trousers or shorts, the madras and seersucker were there for us before we really had a say in what we could wear, but no embroidered trousers

pillows and cushions, sure, but not clothing ... I'm pretty sure

and I know they weren't being worn at our high school, which was, at the time, highly preppy, but not in a costume way

this jokey side of preppiness, the clownish aspect, maybe we were too dour for embroidered trousers ......?

however, I always loved emblematic ties, when I felt that urge to express frivolity I would wear one of those

in any event, I don't really love the color of Nantucket Reds, with or without embroidery

just isn't my color really, for anything

^ I think that's why I like the frog prince trousers from O'Connell's, they're an emblematic tie, but pants... Same with Christmas corduroys, which I like but don't own, I can spend $12 on a Christmas tie on eBay and feel okay about it but not $200+ for cords I'm only going wear one week out of the year...

I like Nantucket reds, I like the color personally and have it in trousers, an old t-shirt from the Nobby Clothes Shop, and a couple hats... One with a Wiffle ball on the front, one blank and long-billed... But it's not for everyone... Variety is the spice of life, always smile

Re: I am seriously thinking about doing the unthinkable --Nantucket Reds

Reds will not work at English seaside resorts (except perhaps Brighton).  I still have the socks my wife brought me back from MT, but not the strides or even the polo shirt.  They became '**** you will not wear even if it's ***'.  Too massive a hint of 'prep' in fact.  I did - at one point - fancy looking like Pete Campbell's father.  But I had a word with myself and the moment passed.  I did experiment with some weird and wonderful stuff for a few mad months around 2009.  Then I caught sight of myself in the mirror, thought of Ken Lovegrove, and went 'pared down' again.  As Jimmy once put it, let's get less baroque.
