have been discovered in the vaults at J.Simons while they clear out the shop prior to closure next February. Only skinny sizes left, mainly 30s and 32s. Nothing larger than this. I know because yesterday I bagged the last 2 pairs of 34s. They are brilliant trousers, quintessential period Ivy. Totally synthetic, totally sta-prest, totally American. Great high-rise, fantastic shape. They make you realise what has been lost. They are also, as the expression goes, rare as hen's teeth.
GG
The Thin Repp sent me a couple of pairs of 1960s trousers recently, and they are indeed a revelation. The high rise is very flattering and the permanent-press crease is always sharp.
The permanent crease for sharp odd trousers is about the only thing that's nice with man made fibre, I suppose...
i like the high rise and the synthetic doesnt bother me to much althought i do like cotton best, im starting to like creases in my pants more and more, meybe im turning into a 60s kind of guy after all
more details please - colours and hem widths please!
very curious, too!
28s - yes maybe one or two. They're all in muted shades, bottom width circa 16" I'd say.
GG
is they flat fronted? also does anyone have pics? or can upload any with them on?
Flat-fronted? Why of course. They're the perfect Ivy trouser. Perfect. Won't be seen again.
GG
Could I be so nosey as to ask who made them?
Ta!
Edit: Buying them to copy the pattern should be on everybody's minds!

I went in today and asked to have a look at these.
A few pairs of them with a 28, 30 and 32 waist - very good prices on them too.
John was crazy for the cut on a pair of olive green farah's which I loved but just couldn't get away with. "The real Ivy-League trouser" he said!
Also asked about bucks in there and he showed me the Walkover catalogue. Real cool stuff!
Well naturally I didn't like to enquire too much as to prices, but the tag on one cord pair was £49, which to me seems like a pair enough price!
As i said though, really neat trousers!
take any pictures? i just want to see the colors...taupe would be really cool.
I have two pairs of vintage Farahs, too... very different cuts. A brown one, which is totally straight and parallel, and a navy one which is extremely tapered with 15" bottoms, I guess.
The great vintage shop up the road from me has many pairs of deadstock Ivy trousers and chinos in most waist sizes. Farah's, some Botany 500s high waisted perm pressed slacks, Dee Cee tapered "Trads" and Leisures by Lee with a lower waist and a greater degree of taper.

I had quite a few pairs of very synthetic strides from the shop about three years ago. They were far too trim in the waist for a middle-aged fatty like me, but they sold like hot cakes on Ebay. I remember a slightly grubby pair of white poly/cotton jeans and I wish I'd made notes of all the makers before letting them go.
The Corbin I have are a bit like these. Razor sharp crease, look great with Weejuns. But sockless.
You can still buy Corbins from that Dann online in the US. Only tried to use him once, five or six years ago, the order was never processed, but he has a lot more on offer now.
A few surprises here. Synthetic I abhor. Farah? Olive green? Interesting.
