Offerings From Japan On Ebay

Is it just me or do they seem to be charging top dollar (or yen) for items that, to some eyes at least, must appear relatively mundane?  I'm talking here about what I see on Ebay, nothing more or less, not their home-manufactured products.  I could understand their pricing, I suppose, if it was for an internal market only but not so much in an international context.  Fine - good luck to them - but count me out.  Has anyone bought, say, Filson or Pendleton from a Japanese seller?

I've noticed that you also have to be a bit wary  on eBay of some American brands that manufacture items for the Japanese market and subsequently change their sizing to accommodate  the smaller Japanese silhouette.
I fell in love with a Pendleton Topster that was Medium but luckily the seller highlighted the differential.

TRS is a fan of the Topster.  I'd never heard of them, although I've been wearing Pendleton for about thirty-odd years.  I'm in two minds.  I did see one, a couple of weeks ago, at a very reasonable £42, but didn't bite.  I think someone might have, though, as it disappeared.

AFS - that Topster sits atop my table in its brown parcel packaging. All of the joy lies in the anticipation, as all clothes nuts surely know, so I will delay the grand unveil for a good while yet.

It's better than undressing any woman.  Oh, the sweet sensation, the mad scrabbling with the fingers, steak knife and scissors.  Then, sniffing it...  Hang on, I'm surely getting carried away with myself...
Back to that Giant vibrator, otherwise known to us UK Ivyists as the place where we liquidize garlic when not ravishing our...

Chambray.  Check out some of the prices in Japan and the USA.  Something interesting is going on here that I feel the UK Ivyheads are being slightly excluded from.  Oh, I don't mean it's anything deliberate or malicious, but I can't help feeling like one of those characters in 'The Beano' years ago, gazing through the frosted window with a yearning look while the grown-ups inside feast themselves on roast turkey and all the trimmings.

AFS - interesting observation, without wishing to touch on the deadly subject of Brexit. It does seem that we clothes fiends are slightly excluded. Mrs W, an avid online shopper, has stopped buying things if she sees that the company are based in the EU, because of the hassles and delays of sending stuff back if it needs to be returned. Some eBay sellers in Europe don’t like sending stuff to the UK for the same reason. I sent two pairs of jeans to a guy in Florida recently and the shipping was more than he paid for the jeans!

Re: Offerings From Japan On Ebay

A few years ago I saw a Barbour Japan shop off Carnaby St that was doing roaring trade it seems. Very small and a queue to go in. I just wandered in without queuing, looking confused, took a look around and didn't really understand it. But its audience seemed keen.

I'm not sure if the Ivy interest in Japan talked about a decade or so ago and mentioned in Ivy Look has maintained - other than a background interest in America culture generally. Even that is lessening now over time.
