Not sure what's gone on with J Press website but the shirts appear to be slightly mis-priced.
I know sterling has been underperforming. But still....
Shooey will probably buy a couple and claim that they’re “big-boy shirts for big daddies?? - or something along those lines.
My one J Press shirt, bought from the “new?? shop at the Yale Club in NY is not high enough quality to warrant my buying any more of theirs (despite hankering for a pink uni stripe) at their normal prices, let alone the mid-clicked extra few 0’s.
If they cost 10,000 GBP, then BIG daddies need only apply.

I'm a fan of their sports shirts as they fit me really well. I typically acquire them on holiday.
Yes, the quality could be a bit better though. The fabric used is variable in quality.
Tim — what were your specific complaints with the Press shirts? I’ve found their Oxford cloth to be pretty good over past 8-10 years. There were a few years where I wasn’t as happy with their stuff (some of the Canadian shirts) but US offerings have always been good I think
Horace - I've only ever owned one, bought in 2018 from what was then a brand new shop at the Yale Club.
Being White, it didn't get vast amounts of wear. Bought in February, by July it had lost three buttons. By September, the shoulder seam on (my) left was starting to pull apart, it had gone altogether by October, despite my not wearing it after I first spotted the issue.
I didn't really feel like this was good enough and despite being in Ireland, a number of phone calls were made to J Press who were, putting it mildly, less than interested in my plight.
It's been enough to put me off permanently fundamentally - although being a sucker, should I happen to be near a J Press in the states, I'd certainly look again.
Tim, does sound rather odd for the ol’ chemise to fall apart like that. Strange even. No bizarre laundering?
I’d think they would replace and perhaps even want the old one back to instruct shirt factory but what do I know.
Understand about being out off by future investments. Two things put me off a place: really bad quality and egregious over paying when value isn’t there. I recently went to a few shops where I think the mark up was pretty high. In one I knew it but didn’t mind too much and in the other only found out after the fact.
As I said — years ago had a shirt or two not so great but in the main been happy with quality I’ve gotten at Press.
It’s not the top but it’s good stuff at a fair price.

Not a £10,000 Ivy shirt, BUT a £10,000 pair of unworn vintage Levis on Maarkt, Waist 76", apparently these were hung in a Levis shop in France, this reminded me of a similar ( possibly the same size) pair that hung outside a shop (Philip Grant ?), in King St Hammersmith W6 in the 60's, a little while back on the forum Uncle Ian reminded me of the pair in Hammersmith, Philip Grant's was the go-to place to get your levis in the mid 60's in West London,

Open to offers, ha. 60s Levis really were phenomenal, but not 10k phenomenal. And for that price I wouldn't feel comfortable ever wearing them. Plus I don't understand what the EEE stamp on the patch means - some sort of second? Plus I'm nowhere near a 76 waist.
I assume the only people who would pay that much would be Levis themselves, and they have probably already acquired a good stock of 60s originals. Then again, who knows?
