A fine sadness...anyone know what happened to him? Asking for me, Jdemy...hello all.
The new Summer Vetra blazers are now available. As per last year they feature a single vent that I believe is unique to Vetra at JS.
Possibly my favourite purchase from last Summer. The heavier weight hopsack looked smarter than my other Vetras.
Shame that they're only available in the same two colours.
The red Mac being modelled at the doorway 46, soon to be available on line. Too garish for me but I can see the missus in one
The ' models' obviously didn't buy their footwear from No. 46...........
Stax- I thought the same. Just shown the photo to the missus and she is interested in the Mac(red is her colour).
Isn't one of the models 'Woof'? He has every ivy shoe under the sun. Dodgy footwear in photo
The missus was in London today, went in to no. 46 and bought herself the red Mac that has been modelled by various ladies in the no. 46 doorway. It looks fantastic on her. Unfortunately can't share photos on this site. She reckons she bumped into JS as he was leaving the shop. Guess what she bought me? SFA!
My search for an olive raincoat ended successfully in my attic - I had bought an unused, perfect Aquascutum vintage one pre Covid that then went unused during the pandemic. There it was forgotten about until this week.
There are lots of classic style raincoats about in London around Victoria Street, Liverpool St and at St Pancras this week. Nice to see.

Congratulations on ‘shopping your attic’ Unseen. A bit like finding a tenner in your jeans, only more so!
Yes it was great, especially as I had it adjusted to fit me perfectly back as things started opening in 2021.
I'm back out and about in a new job, so nice to look smart again.
Robbie - have you had a good inspection of the red mac ? How do you rate the cloth used ? The reason I mention this is that I've asked the shop what the possibilities are of making me a ' Mingus' jacket in the cloth they've used for the raincoats, should hear in a week or so if it's possible, it's probably a question of if they've got sufficient cloth left over after the raincoats, it'd have to be in a navy or olive as I mostly wear khaki coloured chinos, ( 50 shades of beige...), red looks great on the ladies not so good on a man of a certain age....
I looked at the Mac and first impressions were good. My missus worked with clothes and knows about cloth and she was happy with the coat. It reminded her of a Burberry that she had in the 70s. She liked it was made in London and they said it was' made up the road'. The shop offered to shorten the sleeves but she is back to Finland today and likes to turn cuffs over She is wearing the Mac today, Coronation day and raining it seems appropriate
AUS- great find in the attic! I'm stock taking my clothes and found a pair of olive chinos, unworn that I didn't know I had!
Thanks for your feedback Robbie, I'll report back if I can get the mingus made in the mac material,
Stax- Good idea to get the Mingus jacket made in the Mac material. I'm still not sure about the back pocket detail on the Mingus. Is it practical or is it a design idea? Talking of pockets I have some chore jackets where my phone is always close to falling out of the jacket whereas an old Harrington with a button to the pocket keeps cards and phones secure. First world problems

Robbie - the Mingus is a golf jacket and the back pocket on golf jackets was to put your score card in - so I’m told.
A bit similar to all these 4x4 vehicles you see around that have never been driven off road and never will be, if you see what I mean!
If they can make me a mingus in mac material I was going to ask (tell) them not to put that back pocket on, it's not necessary as I don't play golf.....
The Grenfell version doesn't have the pocket anymore
FlatSixC-I remember now that golf connection.I stopped playing golf when I was 20 because I wasn't good enough. I'm surrounded by golf playing family , neighbours and friends that are surprised that I don't play. I lived next to a golf course for over 30 years but only used to caddie.
Stax- A Mingus jacket without the back pocket is something I would be interested in. In an XS, in red, my missus would take a punt, as well . Keep us posted
^Understand the popularity of golf has greatly declined in the UK. One of my family's on the waiting list for Heswall golf club - average age of membership is in their mid 70s.
Was always lousy at it being rather gangly when it came to swinging a club. Then the ball would go off somewhere I didn't expect it to.
Just a quick update on the Mingus made in the material they use for their macs..... it's do-able in navy or natural,(no red material leftover from the macs), I'm going to the shop tomorrow to check out the material, decide what size fits best by trying on mingus jackets in other material, if I then decide to go ahead they can take the sleeve length and put the 'special order' in motion, it can be without the rear pocket, 3-4 weeks to be ready, further updates to follow !
Stax- have they quoted a price for the special order Mingus?
Went to the shop this morning, checked out the fit and the material and all was good, so placed the order, I was promised a picture in the doorway wearing it but I think I'll just let them mail it to me , I said I'd collect my commission in due course on any orders they get on my new design , hahaha
Sean told me they will be having some batik print shirts in a few weeks or so, might be interesting,
HaHa. I was expecting a picture in the doorway Stax. I thought they would offer to take a picture of my missus (who is photogenic) in her new Mac but I know she hates photos on social media and would have turned them down anyway.
The new Italian made loafers look good. Yet to see them in the flesh though.
I love Sebago beef-rolls. More substantial than Weejuns.
The problem has been that Sebago appear to have changed factories and as such the sizing can be inconsistent depending on where/when they were made.
Now we have another option to consider.
As Sebago was creeping up in price I tried other sources to get hold of them - Amazon.com and an Italian direct seller. Sadly the width was such a variable that I was unsuccessful.
Whilst I have squirrelled away a few pairs of loafers it's nice to know there is a new alternative in town.
The Mingus in raincoat material arrived today, very understated in navy blue and I’m pleased with it, good fit and I’m sure it will serve me well in the spring & autumn months, pleased to say that as per my request there is no back pocket, the only thing I would like them to do on their own brand outerwear is better inside pockets, a zip on one would be good, but maybe they’re sticking to ‘boom years ‘ designs where as far as I can tell inside pockets were minimal,
