Re: Ivy League style for today

Thanks boys. I just follow a few personal tenets and this is what I come out with. The main comment I get from people is that I dress "serious". I do like to avoid all the extras and whimsy alot of folks around these boards aspire to. Im kind of the anti A. Squire I suppose.

I haven't been counting, but twice a week is about right. My main concern would be that the suede itself is not top notch, thin and soft, almost velour-like.
However, I am always extremely light on shoes. The GBX are on shoe trees when not in use, which I hope will help to keep them in shape.
When they do fall apart or get too tatty, I'll source Playboys - hopefully higher quality - in Europe; at what I paid including shipping and tax for the US import, I'd probably have been just as well doing that in the first place.

It's not a shoe I'd like to miss though. Absolutely useful footwear.

Re: Ivy League style for today

Tom, I am very impressed with the Hamilton! Based on whatever limited knowledge I've acquired from E-bay searches, I understand that the models with the arrows are for British army issue. Is this correct? Anyway, a beautiful watch. My extremely modest pursuit of vintage watches has so far been built around Hamiltons. I think the military watches look great on any kind of grosgrain strap, whether original army issue or new fangled funny colours. However, their other models, like the thin-o-matic, also great, perhaps particularly with leather straps.

I didn't know that BB made OCBDs with a flap pocket. Is it vintage or just something I've overlooked in my BB forays?

Anyway, you seem to be on a roll lately. Keep it up.

Tom,
You disappeared from the other forum for a while and now I know why.  You were gearing up to come over here and school us.  Beautiful suit.

Re: Ivy League style for today

Thanks Jim--

That thing behind me is a decommisioned Philco TV set that is probably 40 or 50 years old.  Management was throwing it out, so I grabbed it for my office, because I thought it looked cool.

Also, Russell Street sends me secret Ivygram messages on it, broadcasting from his subterranean lair.
