Frye doesn't do too badly either: http://www.thefryecompany.com/

I want one too.  I've noticed Brother Grayson's transition from the heights of bespoke to frugal American sort of WASPy casualness was gradual and all at once.

That's a beautiful shirt 1966.

Re: U.S. Workwear -

Cheers D&F.

I had lots of old work shirts on my watch list. Most of them end surprisingly cheap, it's really worth looking into the older cotton 'sanforized' ones among the later poly blends.

Went for this one because of the seemingly perfect measurements, and the "twist twill". I hope it's similar to the "broken twill" on my old pair of Wrangler 13mwz jeans, which is kind of drapey.

Re: U.S. Workwear -

Excellent thread for all of us who don't wear bow ties at home.

Russell I don't know Fairmount. Back in the 80s I used to go to Paris at least once a month. Back then it was the only place in Europe for getting vintage styles new. Then after many years of resistance the French starting wearing trainers, even the black guys who previously wore crocodile Weston loafers at £1000 a pop. Then it was game over.

Now France for me is a place to drive through to get to Italy.

Anyway back to the thread, I've been looking for a decent non baggy chambray workshort for some time. Watching too many 1940s prison break movies. Those Hercules ones were the Sears brand I believe, the same brand as can be found on a lot of their Horsehide car coats and jackets.

Not Ivy as such but what we do we care? It's all good...

I have a shirt once worn by some guy on the east coast, pumping gas for Texaco - still with the oil stains; wears like iron.

Im a big fan of Pointer Brand:    http://www.pointerbrand.com/ProductCatalog.asp

They still make 99% of their stuff in the USA, at extremely fair prices. Ive worn their chore jackets for years, I think I paid $26 bucks for it.

Good tip, Tom, thanks - their stuff looks well, real. Can't say I've seen that for a while.
