Jason is charming company and I love both him and his wife dearly.

I have an abiding memory of him coming to see me in Franze and Evans as I sat with my wine killing time for no other reason than just to see how I was doing.

When I was so ill a few weeks back he phoned me up to keep me company & to get me writing again. Pointing me forwards in the direction of still having a life, even if it is now a rather curtailed one.

Aye, Jim, he does seem like a nice guy and that's about all I hope for from a person. I'm very pro-Jules and not only because he has studied Jack Kerouac and his piece on the reaction of the London luvvies to his views of 'Absolute Beginners' is a blog entry classic. Few in the internet unreality have any kind of self-deprecating angle or humour, which in Jules case is refreshing and cuts through competing ego bullshit.

He is his own man, who as Zach has rightly pointed out mixes elements of Ivy, street, work wear and the modern. It's the street angle to his style that grates with a few here, I suspect.

For me I think the purist approach is the best. I'll but my hands up now and say the approach of overly meditated and worked-out outfits in Ivy doesn't really seem to capture the spirit of it. I'm not saying things shouldn't co-ordinate or be interesting, but it should be in the most subtle of ways with giving the impression of minimum effort. People like Heikki, and Danielle have hit this nail often, and I still think Heikki probably is the best example of men's style on the internet. My problem with people playing up to today's tastes are just shooting themselves in the foot in the long run, anything that looks to much of now will quickly look shit.



This man will succeed over any blog-whore or west-end darling, I'm sure he probably doesn't care, but I need an example to show people what I think is the true direction of timeless men's style.

Thanks Jim, I think I missed his posts.

Ok might have been better with a crew to give a curve against the sharp lines of the lapel, but still lovely colours. Like I said, Andy is/was right, I was wrong I don't think Ivy suits the world of peacocky blogs. It's not for the person who wants to leap out off the page. You do that with Ivy ie colours and it becomes quickly preppy.

Also I think these rules are important to maintain the style it is like a prefix of the design, ok people will want to play their own thing, and that is cool, but the human body hasn't changed shape and our temperaments are still similar. Ivy does the job if you're willing to pay its wage. THis point of view comes from me trying so hard to break the rules. I think many of them are therefore a reason you just have to admit to yourself you don't know better.
