Sorry Moose, I think I got you mixed up with someone else from the WAYW thread.
You aren't missing out on the shoulders on the jackets, I tried one on a few weeks ago, and found them a bit stiff (though not too padded).

Bought a navy and also a grey sweatshirt from uniqlo just the other day, really cheap, and made in China, BUT for a student on a budget to find exactly what I was after design wise I was happy.
No stupid logos, patterns, stitching etc, just a classic grey sweatshirt with that V detail.
Perfect for rainy campus days under a jacket a la...
