adorable, great pic moose
I haven't contributed much to this but have enjoyed the exchanges very much. Quite heated debate at times.
I do regret to say that, while I can appreciate the carefully crafted looks above I too find them...shall we say a little staid?
Its interesting too that the minute someone expresses a very strong (negative) opinion he is accused of being less than articulate! Perhaps in Britain we do suffer from what our friend Anthony Blanche would call 'la fatigue du nord'!
Any opinion ( mild or strong ) only becomes meaningful through some kinda back up, lacking that people are just talking out of their arse, surely ?
I thought I perhaps came off too harsh in my initial reaction to the above picture. I was reminded by someone of what my signature said. I stand by it. It was a broad criticism, and perhaps it came off as a little too blunt, but I think I made a point of stating when something I said was just a personal reaction for me. RS did a good job of telling him how to improve the outfit on the actual thread, but I normally object to such a thing. There is an actual joy in responding to criticism or self doubt by figuring out what you are doing wrong on your own (or if you are actually doing anything wrong). I stumbled onto this site and found fellow travelers, not style gurus. Some who knew more than me and some who didn't. There are a lot of opinions, and I am certainly open to considering everybody's, but in the end aren't we all just narcissists? Isn't that we why care enough to wear what we wear? We may admire Miles, Chet, whomever..but in the end we want to step out in to the world looking "the business". Compliments are nice but I would be willing bet most people who post here know the feeling of putting on clothes, walking out the door, and knowing they look as perfect as they can actually look. If a person doesn't have this kind of confidence, I honestly don't understand why they aren't wearing the same thing as everyone else.

Yes, I think if you really do what you want you can't go wrong, anyway...
It's just if you don't know about something, or if you aren't sure about what you want exactly, you can make mistakes.
I think I always know what I like, but my taste has developped in certain way...
Some things I have learned about over here, too.... I've never heard about Mackinaws, Buffer coats and Canadienne jackets for example before I joined FNB....

Ha! God, I look sweaty and sleazy and ill-groomed in that shot, like I'm on my way to sell pot at Sterling Cooper.
