Hello,
I've been following the forum for several months. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with any of these Lee japan products:

The pants look ok in some of the pics though the fit/shoe combo chosen for the model is pretty horrid.
I think they were also doing straight reissues of the classic Lee Leens awhile back. The few vintage pairs I own are a great fitting alternative to the "white" levi slim fits line, but I don't know how much they modernized the cut.
Just realized I posted this on the wardrobe forum; moved it here but don't know how to delete the old one. sorry.
Right on Thin Repp! I agree with all you say. Less Trad, more Ivy. If J.Press maintained the commitment to quality and tradition but sharpened up their silhouettes they'd win back a lot of bored and disillusioned customers.
Not my cup of tea, either. Too skinny, too low rise...
... and the "hungry butt"... well... nice term...
I used to like narrow trousers with a lower rise, but it's a look for really young and slim fellas only... Not Ivy League IMO.
speaking about low rise trousers: I still haven't found anything about the origins of "hipster pants" in American fashion. It was a mid sixties fad that spread in young fashion and it was everywhere by the end of the decade. Nowadays it's very popular again. In fact, it's even harder to find traditional high rise these days. However, I always thought it was a Carnaby Street fashion, ca. 1964 when Mod went commercial/ mainstream with origins in Continental style, either French or Italian, until I found an article with Mary Quant recollections. She wrote that this style of "cowboy hipster pants" was a New York tailoring thing originally... Don't know more about it, and I can't find that article anymore.
Maybe "Not Ivy League IMO" was misleading... Something is either part of the Ivy League Look or it isn't.... doesn't have to do with my personal opinion...

The Lee pants in the picture, are just not that nice, I think, and that's just my personal opinion...
(... and they're certainly not Ivy.... but that's another thing...)
It's probably not about the low rise though... I've seen some pictures of low rise trousers, British as well as Continental, that I like...
Oh and great pic (as usual) StaceyB
^I'd take that back if I were you TTR, looks pretty scary
