Mike's 'point' about Ivy being in the past is interesting...
Because for us the style isn't in the past.
... Maybe Mike is the 'outsider' here?
The style never died, Mike. If you were a part of all this then you'd know that.
Interesting.
If one can believe a word Mike/Mark/MPCSB says then he was 56 back in '06 (or there abouts). One would think that his memeory would go back to before 'Preppy' in the 80's...
Oh what a tangled web he weaves!
Much as the English would rightly lay claim to chukkas, moleskins, cavalry twills and hacking jackets, the US can do the same with saddle bucks, penny loafers, soft-roll collar button-downs and sack suits.
Roetzel in his book quite correctly names the Ivy League style alongside the British and Italian traditions.

at the end of the day, whatever keeps it in the store.
failing that, if I really want it, I'll have someone make it.
So you think the style doesn't work, as seen today?
I think porn models in schoolgirl uniforms are way sexy. I'm sure there are those with a faible for hunks in pirate costumes. But I don't think it's a style that works in an everyday context.
Do you think that Ivy League style, as worn today, works in an everyday context?
A bold statement never fails to get a bit of a discussion going, makes for some nice friday afternoon entertainment at the office. Cheers, guys

It's true though.
What other double act has pulled each others leg more?
Have a good weekend, Sir. Hope The Fleet's in town.
