Olive-Drab Chinos

In discussions regarding Ivy style of times gone by, references to khakis, cords, and even jeans are common.

Other references to an olive drab chino are presumably referring to an army surplus trouser.

Do others have recollections of what was worn, and if such style is available today?

I have seen many olive colors, but most are too brown or dark to be considered an "olive-drab".

I've got some great Duck Head ones from the mid 80's. They make a nice change from Khaki. I don't think the military connection is too strong. They were just another colour choice along with Navy, etc.

Black Chinos are mentioned in The Bell Jar, 1963.

Olive drab green chinos are always a winner, particulary with a beaming white button down and black belt, brogues or even a gibson. Its a look I often use.  I prefer the colour and effect to brown khaki chinos.
