I've adopted The Thin Repp's 'buy on sight' policy for the right stuff... smile

I hadnt seen cardigans with brass buttons - very nice! Also love the touch of green in the socks amongst the darker colours

An idea rather like the old Brooks Bros. 'Office Cardigan' which even had knitted notched lapels.  Sisley did them too, once.

Patrick, I've long thought you have a particular way with ties and pocket squares.  Not the least hint of matchy-matchiness, yet it all works.  Of course, my vision is somewhat color-deficient, so we could both be quite happily wide of the mark.

Good to know I'm not just floundering about in the low-cone void.  Or is it rods?  In any event, it is Patrick's true strength.  He could do this Ivy business or the Flusser-style power dress with equal facility.  He gets color.

Not strictly today, last week I started my new job, first day:

Mercer James Bond tattershall button down
Brown houndstooth jacket with an obscure brown and green repp tie - both Pal Zileri
Brooks Brothers blue Thompson fit chinos
Alden traditional saddle oxfords in dark burgundy shell cordovan

The outcome of the new mission is certain.

Re: Ivy League style for today

Good to be back Alex, my return was unexpectedly delayed somewhat, but now I'm here: snow is falling, Art Pepper+Eleven is playing, there's a full cup of coffee in hand, a book on the birth of croon singing and the missis is at the gym cool

This what it is...  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumpin'_Jive_(Joe_Jackson_album)

Posted here on the wrong thread in the spirit of the forum.

Maybe it could be an easy way in for others to follow in 4F's footsteps?

Re: Ivy League style for today

^ Cheers. I could do without the turn-ups - I don't mind them really, but they're born out of necessity. I'm shorter than these jeans come, and although I'm hiding them, I'm not going to improve on those chainstitched hems.

Eris mentioning Clicker coats in a PM spurred me into getting this McGregor out of the closet, I don't wear it often but it's pretty nice in this weather.

Very nice MacGregor '66.

Always been a fan of their stuff, especially with a crew/shawl collar.

Your timbys look a lot more substantial than mine, better sole unit.
