Does anyone else on here wear pinpoint bd, or am I swimming against a tide of oxford cloth only?

Hey Patrick wears pinpoint and he is up for Best Dressed Normal Guy or some such award!!
Bought two a while back, plain white and sky blue, slightly longer collarpoints and just the little shoulder pleats, no further frills.
/\ knew I could rely on you Alex

Yes I've got a few, Brooks, Gant, Paul Stuart. My favourite is a peachy-pink Gitman Bros. Also wear a lot of non-madras cotton check bds as well.
"OCBD" has become the forumspeak generic term for any shirt with the requisite collar.

Sure. I have some pinpoint non-iron (iGent gasps) shirts from Land's End. Good hangover shirts.
Sure, in summer pinpoints are a necessity, though I prefer broadcloth.
For some odd reason, I don't like plain blue shirts in broadcloth. I don't even know why. Perhaps it seems powdery somehow. So pinpoint fills in there.
I like pinpoint and broadcloth button downs. As Patrick mentioned, OCBDs can be a bit warm in the summer. I also think that they look better with suits than OCBDs, altough my opinion about the latter is changing after seeing many fine examples of OCBDs with suits.
I own a few, dont wear them nearly as much as my oxford cloth shirts though. I find they stick to me in the heat, whereas oxford cloth, being more hard finished, doesnt.
Blue BBs. Not white. The iridescence of the blue is very nice and is completely lost in a white on white weave meaning the white shirt looks as if it could be from anywhere.
I find that in the summer the Brooks OCBD is too chunky if I'm wearing a jacket.
I wear the pinpoints on most of the occasions I wear a blue blazer in cooler weather too, as I experience the perception that oxford cloths are thicker than the blazer: of course they're not but it feels unbalanced in some way.
Must mention the Press pinpoint point collar too here. I'm not a fan of their modern button-downs (huge shoulders and odd collar-roll), but the pinpoint collar is better for pinning than its Brooks counterpart as the collar is appreciably longer and far less structured. Not the best-made shirt in the world but worth getting for this reason alone.
Seems pinpoint is out there doing its job just as it should. It just hasn't recieved the iconic status of the Oxford Cloth Button Down.........does that mean that these days its much more Ivy that Oxford Cloth BD then? As it does what it does in a cool understated way, much like Ivy clothes should do! Just a thought!!!
Brooks. USA. £4.99 on Ebay. Wearing it un-ironed.
white and yellow Brooks... ebay, not as cheap as ISRs...
Yes, with suits, especially summer suits. I think, particularly in colors like blue, it looks better with the suit. It seems a little nice to wear casually.
