Spent a few hours with John Rushton this afternoon and brought him up to date with some of the stuff we're all looking for.
He'd already started stocking Sanders white and dirty bucks and will start to stock the playboys too. I suggested he major in snuff as the dark brown are available elsewhere.
Also suggested he get some of the Lormoc penny strap weejun style in.
Lastly as John is fluent in italian I've put him in touch with the boss at Astorflex with the idea that he could be a conduit for their desert boots as it's nigh on impossible to get them out of Italy.
This means anyone in the vicinity will be able to try all of the above and those that know John well probably get a discount and anyone overseas can order directly from john by phone or email.
It was nice to see the shop busy too. No one else in the west end selling this stuff anymore...
Sounds great.Looking forward to trying on the desert boots.
Excuse, but what's the how news? I've got two pairs of Lormoc penny loafers, bought well over two years ago.
Johnny R just called me to say he'd been in touch with Sanders today and ordered the dirty buck chukkas with birck red soles for delivery next week. He also said that Sanders were inundated with orders for these new models and he's ordered the snuff playboys that we all know are still in production...
Weejun - You have the power to change lives!
Ta.
Well JR is a bit like JS of old (pre JSA of course), as in he's not really that linked in to the instant feedback and customer desires of the online world (as opposed to from 'live' customers) so I'm pleased that he's responded well to the suggestions. Of course he had already ordered the bucks from Sanders.
I just emailed the boss at Astorflex too to introduce Johnny and hopefully they can do something together. He was awed by what he saw on their website, and I wore my Astors in there to show him.
As much as I respect Clarks for being the original, I hate them for being rock hard and made in vietnam and taking the customer for granted. Astor are hand made IN ITALY AND cheaper as well as having that Italian understanding of the subtleties of suede colours.

Sterling Work, Weejun!
Thanks guys!
No.
Thank YOU -
Hey Weejun, Just out of curiosity, would it be worth also mentioning to him about the Trickers version of the Playboy style boot. I think they're called Trickers Mudguards?
I know they're made in Northampton & sent half way round the world for the Japanese market only, but I do remember someone on here saying that Trickers can make them for UK residents direct, but it takes about 14 weeks. Maybe there's some scope there for JR to enquire, if he's up for it?
I don't think there's any margin in it for him. Anyone can get trickers to do that directly. The guy who runs their factory shop David sells on eBay and puts info on his listings about how to get boots made. For
the record the style name is Holborn. Might be worth getting in touch with him.
