Full Strap Pennies?

Brother JakeLA has got me thinking -

What do we think of the Full Strap Penny Loafer (The 'FSPL' to any Trads reading out there!  wink )?

I have one high cut pair by Rockport for kicking around in the rain in. Beyond that I'm a Penny man with Beefrolls as a second choice. Tassels come third for me.

The full strap belongs in the ol' Tradition. Who's a fan?

J.

I have a pair of the lower cut version offered by BB/Alden.  I do like them for a change of pace but it took awhile getting used to the lower cut.  They would probably be third for my behind tassels and then regular penny loafers.

Very Anglo style, those low cut full strap Aldens - A kinda Harvie & Hudson look.

Re: Full Strap Pennies?

^ And yet a Brooksian fave rave along with the uber-Anglo Alden tassel which dominated the old Brooks catalogues of the 80's - The LHS was there too, but NOT as such a big deal.

Alden's tribute to London:  http://www.aldenshop.com/DrawOneShoe.asp?CategoryID=51   - A Brooksian fave because it was SO Anglo & that's what they loved. There is nothing remotely 'American' in style about this shoe apart from it being in Cordo, which would be rare in the UK.

Harvie & Hudson is a Jermyn Street Street outfitter. Originally a shirtmaker they now sell all kinds of items. It's deeply conservative but not in a particularly good way. Clothes intended for minor captains of industry but in reality worn by aging estate agents and chartered surveyors. Pale yellow socks are big there.

Otter : Take it easy, I'm pre-law.
Boon : I thought you were pre-med.
Otter : What's the difference?
