After The Outsider, wasn't it a fast descent into pulp crime stories and obscure occult writing for Mr Wilson?
Could be an interesting film. Never read the book, but would be worth watching if it covers similar themes to Colin MacInnes London Trilogy. And they get it right, the '50's was the age of jazz, not rock 'n' roll.
Aye.
Interesting though. Funny the way Soho has always been a magnet for a certain sort - Probably because it's so central, yet was affordable (once).
The mix of people was the thing for me, & how wonderfully grotty everything was with little islands of fascination everywhere like Lina Stores...

Who would you be?
I liked this: "BAR TENDERS. Variety of roles and degrees of nastiness."
I'm torn between being a punter & a hard boiled drinker...
I would go for one of the Hard Boiled Drinkers watching the strippers.
Oh, good call Sir!
I 'ope they're brassy.
Are the strippers 'Hard Boiled' as well......
One hopes: sleazy yet intellectually sophisticated in a Weimar Republic/Ute Lemper way.
