Re: New Improved Inane Post of the Day Thread (50% More Snark)

In my first Windows 95 computer days AOL provided a bait of X number free hours. I used it and went over something like 5.5 and was billed $125. I sent a postal money order in for $20 and their entire system went into shock with loud sounds of machinery breaking under high RPMs. They are only set up for electronic payment. I received a nasty letter acknowledging payment but demanding future payments via C/C. Well, I didn't have a C/C and promptly sent another PMO for $15. They again complained and I sent $10. When a $5 payment came they shut up.

A thrifty Andivian scores a pair of arguably the ugliest shoes ever made but loses them to his roommate in a catfight:

Forum cracker tells Pinky to embrace his inner Okie and if he can't wear the certified real McCoy Murray's Reds, to step away from the OPH and grow up.  Good luck.  (In earlier posts Pinky recounts his life, and another poster begs him to post pics of his young daughter!  Those wacky Trads!)

Re: New Improved Inane Post of the Day Thread (50% More Snark)

Alas! My friends and fellow travelers, a cruel dart has pierced my breast and brought me low even in the flush of my youth. For the crime of baiting our dear friend Virtuti/The Dandy I have received a cold and impersonal ban from Ask Andy:

http://www.askandyaboutclothes.com/forum/showthread.php?105345-What-style-of-gloves-would-be-elegant-and-can-be-worn-with-a-suit-and-shirts-with-french-cuff&p=1105769#post1105769

They also got Zon Junior. And the new forum software is so well-designed and efficient that I can't log in and access the PMs that explain this dreadful punishment.

To quote Robert Frost:

"Nature's first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay."

They were so efficient that even I didn't get to read them, and I suppose I will have to lead the rest of my life in ignorance.

Didn't StyleForum have a transparent moderation thread? I find it worrisome that AAAC seems to have this Stalinesque system where people disappear without notice or explanation.  I would hope that this is the software glitch alluded to when I was banned, but it does appear as though someone is shamefully hushing even the mildest mention of the trolling that inexplicably goes unnoticed.

Now I again feel the pangs first stirring in my 16 year old loins. A famous texas leathermaker  Captain Preppy and I remember once offered powdered lead lined gloves and saps.
They would have been splendid for the gloved slap of the face  challenging the Walrus and the Carpenter to a duel.

Re: New Improved Inane Post of the Day Thread (50% More Snark)

Humourless and ignorant is Country Irish. It was himself and Connemara who first freaked out I could speak gaelic and knew a great deal about irish history and 'the troubles.' Their reaction was then to accuse me of lieing about my family's involvement; as if continued involvment in such a stupid and ignoble squabble means anything.
AH! but CI lists the 'tokarev round' as some base parameter of performance. Said round is nothing more than the .30 Mauser of C 96 Broomhandle ( as in 1896) fame and not exactly a prefered choice today. AH! but he decides the 9MM ( which one?) is not the preferred round of assassins. OH? I haven't lunched with many lately, but a list of successfull 'hits' show a plethora of rounds from junk ( Oswald's Carcano) to some pretty bread and butter ( RFK and Reagan a .22 and Lennon a .38 spl)

And WHO is the idiot who credits Docker with the first khakis? I thought the East India Company Army was first

Why did The Dandy disappear, and why is he now Virtuti?

Re: New Improved Inane Post of the Day Thread (50% More Snark)

M. de Robespierre, well chosen!

I think The Dandy disappeared once his cover was blown, and he returned in a more subtle form as Virtuti. Of course The Dandy and Virtuti have exactly the same weird diction and syntax, the same manic posting schedule, and the same noxious/hilarious fascination with European nobles so the form was not all that much more subtle.

I've been crying hysterically all evening and my youth pastor has taken his phone off the hook, so I guess I'll deal with my banning in the only way I know how: by making fun of WAYWing posters:

http://www.askandyaboutclothes.com/forum/showthread.php?48726-A-Trad-What-are-you-Wearing&p=1105539#post1105539
Coleman, the Martin Luther of the trad Reformation, debuts a stunning outfit: a shirt, khaki pants, white athletic socks and black loafers. So trad! So breathtaking! Oh wait, I rescind my sarcasm, he has one of those nylon-strap military watches that I never once saw at prep school or in college, and that really lends his clothes a numinous beauty. Coleman always seems so reasonable and smart in his posts, it's hard to reconcile that with this bland-to-bad look.

MySharona is looking more and more like a meth baron.

And some typically creepy iGent reactions to other outfits -

http://www.askandyaboutclothes.com/forum/showthread.php?62656-What-Are-You-Wearing-Today&p=1104732#post1104732

And a bonus from the Styleforum WAYW thread, where the action is less about the outfits and more about the horrific wastes of humanity who air their opinions within it:

"MY WIFE WANTS ME TO RUN FOR OFFICE NO BIG DEAL GUYS TEE HEE JUST HAVING FUN BUT SERIOUSLY I COULD RUN FOR OFFICE I'M THAT IMPORTANT."

"Ugh, don't you guys HATE it when some WOMAN makes an excuse to touch you and play with your clothes? GOD, these STUPID DAMES, why won't they leave me alone with my perfect tie arch and expertly folded pocket square? HOW I HATE THEM."
