My shoe cobbler, chinese american with a mexican crew recently moved to a bigger shop after 30 years in his old location. He had a 50% off sale on leather goods left over the years. My third pair of boring, resoled Allen Edmonds got caught in the move and I had to wait an extra, agonising 2 igent days.
He GAVE me a vintage black leather toiletry kitbag as thankyou. Somehow he knew I was looking for one. But then he took it back, had his #1 worker restitch the loose bag loop by hand. I yelled a gracias! and he yelled back a per nada patron!
It's amazing what you chance into, if you actually walk in Allen Edmonds a few blocks. Sitting in a class 1 cleanroom to avoid dirt on the shoes while surfing the EBAY flea market isn't nearly as fun.

His posts are consistently vitriolic and mean (he even zinged The Dandy/Virtuti, though for some reason he didn't get banned), and he seems to have the standard iGent nebulous connection to Harvard.
