The insult is most reenactors have never spent 48 hours in any military service. They give excuse of researching history and honouring the memory of past warriors.
The big joke is they fossilize falsehoods. A recent T.V. series pits various warriors and modern units against each other, ie William Wallace vs Shaka Zulu , a Spartan VS a Ninja etc, do pig cadaver tests on weaponry by experts in the different groups and run this sophisticated computer programme to see who will win.
The latest was the James Gang vs Al Capone. They forgot single action revolvers carried only 5 rounds for safety ( non rebounding firing pin on hammer) and gave them 6 in modern speed holsters. That, and this yahoo informed them the american quarterhorse was the James gang prefered mount. To bad Jessie himself wrote a newspaper boasting their use of 'fine bloodstock' aka thoroughbreds.
It all gets a bit weary, especially when some kid in a modern ghilly suit or IDF uniform at a gunshow informs you your military branch never saw combat; and oh, by the way, have any medals, uniforms or guns you need to sell?

^ "Winn" stalked me for a while, to the extent of sending me tourist info for Princeton.

I'd like to announce the arrival of a new star at the SF forum, one Mr. Sartorial. Has a "blog" and an incredible knowledge of clothes and skin tones, energy and enthusiasm and if we can possibly get him to join us...well, it would be a great stroke of luck and really improve the spirit around here. I think Mr. Sartypants is being trolled by the AsianGuyInBlackSuit whose syntax betrays too much familiarity with English as a Primary language, which would be unfortunate if true.
