Kenneth Clark was an astonishing person when I was a teenager. He did a 13 part series for the BBC TV called 'Civilization". It was an enormous show over here. Sad to think know one in England remembers him. One more reason for anyone in a sack suit in England to be sent to Guantanamo to be waterboarded.
At least try to conform to America's truth in marketing laws. Change the name of the forum to " The Forum for Loutish Englishmen who try to imitate the style of clothing of Americans who attended elite northeast colleges 30 years ago ". sheeesh.

Oh, and Russell Street, to paraphrase Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting: "You like apples? How do you like them apples?"
Whilst we're quoting,
"If it isn't Humpty Numpty sitting on top of a collapsing wall like some clueless egg hoho"
if anyone thinks that the people on here are loutish, then they've had a very sheltered existence...
Is tmc22 the Russell Street collective talking amongst themselves ?
I never know with these things.
Don't let it be said tmcwhatever is of no use to this board- I, for one, never knew they had clubs in the former colonies.
So, tmc, how does that work, then? Bloke comes in, cowboy boot heels (or Aldens) a-clicking, slaps down a wad of 'greenbacks' and is in?

Yeah, sooo, back on the topic of the thread, too bad the Williams Club closed...
Especially as I am moving to the city shortly and was considering joining...it was the club for NESCAC schools' alumni. The news kind of settled it. I will likely be joining a different non-alumni club nearby that someone has offered to put me up for that in addition to being a club is also part of the MSRA. A better value, really.
And the clubs--the college ones in New York, the University in Hartford, the various clubs and restaurants in Boston such as Locke-Ober, were part of a lifestyle...the mid-century corporate lifestyle...of longer lunches, and closer ties...which has been replaced by sitting at your desk for lunch.
Noting that change hardly makes one a poseur as has been insinuated.
True... and so it's wise for people to not start spats. They only ever result in somebody or other getting trashed.
An echo of Skip's 'How dare these creepy minorities wear our clothes' on Go Preppy?
I also do not believe that anybody who puts forward that point of view is who or what they say they are. Why would a real Brahmin care?
