Strangers On A Train

It's the locale that fascinates: Washington and the tennis tournament background.  Many thanks to RS for posting that lovely publicity still.  I hope the Hitch-admirers will overlook my slightly sniffy tone yesterday.

I have not been around much lately but it's nice to see you posting again in your new incarnation. You were missed.

Re: Strangers On A Train

I make no great claims for the clothing seen in this or other movies of the period as 'Ivy'.  But it's that rather splendid hat-wearing, tie-wearing, pipe-smoking, solid shoe wearing imagery so often seen in advertisments during the Truman/Eisenhower period.  I referred to it once, to RS, as 'Homburg Ivy' - though I was only kidding around.  I'd like to think these guys bought themselves gas-guzzlers with tail-fins, wore a Drizzler only for golf, and were married to women who looked like Esther Williams.
