Re: For Sale -

Hi Boys and Girls!

Probably the nicest thing I've ever dug up,

Herringbone 3-p. suit, by Deansgate for the Princeton Shop, Princeton, N.J. this herringbone is a tight weave, no content tag but definitely all wool id say. hard to explain but half of the "bone" is brown, other half grey, on a lt. grey background. overall effect is a medium/light grey with a brown tint. guessing 38 from measurements, which are as follows (its obviously been taken in quite a bit esp. at the torso, thought it was darted at first glance, about an inch to let out on each side, im no tailor but id say probably even more could be let out);

Shoulder 17", waist 18.5, arm 24.5,lapel 3.5, pit to pit 21, length (bottom of collar to bottom of tail ) 31. vest 17 (tweed part in front, across widest part, buckle in back). pants 41 outside seam, 30 inside seam, 16.5 across waist.

lapped shoulder seam, raised back seam (lapped), swollen edges on lapel, lower pockets flapped patch, undarted, 3/2 with a gentle roll, deep cuff on pant legs which are heavily tapered (pipestem) and creased, 4 pocket vest, 2 on cuff, all black union bug (forget what era that makes it), natural shoulder (but with a lot of heft on shoulder and chest, full canvas, well constructed), green lining and vest backing (dont know name of the shade but its kind of a forest green mixed with olive, sort of a light forest or very dark sage) brooks style slanted single vent (the vent is 9.5", from my very limited knowledge of tailoring id say that'd be more than enough to close it up with a hook vent, looks like it was lengthened as the stitching on the vent closure is brown instead of gray). one of the lower pockets has a little inner pocket for your lighter. all in all its immaculate, best ive ever seen.

just noticed two more details. hidden (no flap) front change pocket in pants. one back pocket has no button, or loop. other is a normal buttoned arse-pocket. every time i look at this thing, i see a new hidden detail.

may have to get back into columbian exports so's i can fit in it myself......

Re: For Sale -

the 42 herringbone jacket and marshall fields tie are now up. apologies for the igent setting, it seemed to have the best lighting. the color of the jacket came out as an olive but in reality is more of a sage/greyish green.

follow the link afew posts up and scroll forward.  the wear on the edge of the cuffs didnt come out in the photo. its only at the very edge, so it can be turned up- current sleeve length is 25". the tie is 60s vintage, interesting design, lined, 3".

also added, not exactly ivy but new old stock, a harris tweed double vented, darted jacket by repp. shoulder well constructed but no padding, fully canvassed chest. late 60s/70s is my guess. tags still on, vent still sewn shut, dry cleaned once by myself. its a 42 but very slim fitting, would fit a 40 in modern sizes, especially if layered over a sweater.

15x34 sero pinpoint, "discontinued style".

next, a sz. 38 j press linen jacket from the san fran era. theres a little spot of fading/light staining on the sleeve, over the pen in the last picture. its more noticeable in the pic than in person. ive tried soap and water, might come out better with dry cleaning.

also a bunch of shoes on there now.

Re: For Sale -

Great you 've got photos up. The Herrinbone is nice but I think will be a little short in the sleeve for me.

Re: For Sale -

36 or 38s 3p suit, dk. grey tweed, all the good details, hook vent, etc. missing the vest (the store lost it, but it will turn up sooner or later), with a stain and a mothhole on the shoulder. it was marked 5 bucks, or else i wouldnt mention it. also, a similarly sized and detailed med. grey herringbone jacket, lightening on elbow (ready for a patch) , cuff issues (at bottom, can be turned up), if anyone has short arms.

Re: For Sale -

2 old bean check flap pocket shirts. 15.5x34/5. blends. one is a yellow, other gray/maroon. the check is close to tattersall. also a pair of canadian made eddie bauer dirty bucks (red brick sole, highest layer of sole is that wood-looking compound seen on mcnairy shoes) in excellent, very close to new shape. size reads 13, but its incorrect-they were close to fitting me and im a 10/10.5, so im saying 11 or 11.5 at most. also a 16/34 cream colored pinpoint shirt(deans fine menswear of naperville), from stampage at bottom id guess troy, enro, or most likely sero mfg. piles of brand new arnold palmer blazers, mostly 40s, darted, blends. a 2 button undarted medium gray chalkstripe suit jacket and matching vest, mark shale (i think hart/schaffner/marx or stanley blacker made their stuff, but dont know), about a modern 42 or retro 44,later 70s or early 80s vintage, spotless.

Re: For Sale -

Was just in my town looking in the local vintage shop, which is essentially a rockabilly place, but nonetheless, otherside were a lovely pair of made in england desert boots in a nice grey/taupe (?) type colour with crepe sole. A bit more solid than a clarks, they were either George Cox or Sanders and were very close to mint condition. I think the only wear was on the sole where they were on display.

They were size 8, on sale £45 down to £25 which for made in england seems like an astonishing deal.

Quite happy to pick them up for someone, or go back tomorrow with more details if anyone is intereted? (Sorry my details are hazy I was leaving in a rush when I saw them).

Not after a profit, just happy to pick them up for someone as they seemed a really decent desert boot (compared to clarks I used to wear). Damn my size 11 feet!

One confusing detail was they were called 'Sahara' which is now a Loake shoe, but they were 3/4 holed and sure they weren't Loake. They also had different sole emblems inside each shoe. Interesting...
