I think I might have got hold of the wrong end of the stick by referring to 'modernist' art and architecture; to an extent anyway. I see a lot of art, design and architecture from the 19th and 20th centuries I happen to find interesting and stimulating whilst being simultaneously repelled or bored by much from previous centuries. Abroad, I'm afraid, I never venture into places like the Uffizi, preferring to poke about in the quiet back streets. Many thanks to those who made me think again on this subject; a valuable experience.
