Tangential: A Certain Sense Of Humour... ?

A lovely long chat with my Brother last night who reminded me of how as kids up in Edinburgh I'd tricked him into going into the Ladies loos telling him it was the Laddie's & that he couldn't spell...

There's a lot of humour on our side of the Ivy pond I think.

Best -

You gotta have it.  You just gotta have it.  'Warped', we tend to call it over here.

What was it that ol' Marty Amis said about those without humor being devoid of seriousness.

Never trust a humorless fucker I say.

Yes, I'd say the dry British humor (ahem, humour) is the desired type, where passersby will not be alerted to the presence of  ongoing shenanigans.  Boisterous vaudevillian jokiness with incessant canned zingers is the wrong type.

Also, I've always heard that women should be witty, not funny.  They are onto something.  Clowns are not respected, but deliver a bon mot and one is golden.
