More polite, eh? NSB, perhaps, provided the answer.
I appreciate the correction.
NSB may have indeed provided an answer that speaks to many. While I've enjoyed reading some of these threads on that "parochial" stuff, I don't feel I have anything to contribute.
I think that, on the whole, 'Preppy' & 'Trad' forums suit the mass American online market best. Ahistoric fantasy-driven appreciations of certain aspects of Ivy style. The fantasy is the product, not the clothes (Pure RL!)
The expolitation of 'Trad' by the London crew was purely because it was so obviously perfect for the demographic to be found on AAAC. It was an easy way to open a debate which could then be promoted & opposed at the same time by the same people & draw in as many new people as possible.
The whole thing was manipulated from the start to create all the forums & blogs we have today. Check 'Russell Street's' joining date compared to 'Harris'' on AAAT - September '04 'Harris' starts up and by November '04 the 'Russell' name is put in place for later use in '06. Between 'Russell's' anti-Trad onslaught and Harris initial pro-Trad work we were building up 'Trad' & building up 'Harris'. Coaxing it all along to trash later.
Just another online game.
Some great things have come out of the process & a lot of old crap as well. Such is the Net.!
Relax, enjoy, nothing is real & nothing to get hung about...
There are many, many informed Americans when it comes to Ivy. Few venture online & those who do wouldn't be enough to run an Americans-only Ivy forum.
The US is very, very welcome here (this is an American owned site anyway) but when it comes to Ivy, on the whole most prefer the easier options of 'Trad' or 'Preppy': The fantasy of "The clothes of the elite"!
Each to their own.
Ivy was, and is, for everyone.
Best -
Seems like a lot of work.

Elegant, sophisticated east coast brahmin types should understand that norvern monkeys in this damp island pull legs.
Yes... It's a cultural thing: Their good manners make them look as common as muck to us back here in the old country...
