What Music Are You Listening to at the Moment...[AKA the Music thread]

I thought I'd start a  complimentary thread of sorts to the: What are you drinking at the moment thread. This thread is open to all, even the Ivy Jazz nut jobs wink  So, whether it be Tchaikovsky or 'traine..? Tell us.

I'm currently listening and enjoying, Lindsey Buckingham's Out of The Cradle Album.

Maybe, a bit Fleetwood Mac[y] for some, (think Mac, circa Tango In the Night), but I like it and it's beautifully recorded, a rarity in these digital ages.

So, what's on the old CD player, turntable, tape deck or MP3 thingy at the moment?

Charlie Parker's In the Still of the Night.

The question now then is why am I only finding out about this collection of "bastards" today? How long has their little club been running?

Pink Floyd - The Wall.  I saw the Roger Waters show twice last weekend and can't get it out of my head.

Bobby Watson, Advance, live dates in Europe with Bobby and a Euro rhythm section.  It contains perhaps the definitive recording of one of Bobby's signature tracks, "Karita," a tune simply aching with desire and longing.  And then you remember that Bobby wrote it for his sister.

Pulled this out of the archive and have been enjoying it this lazy Sunday morning.

I heard that show was really good. I am a huge Pink Floyd fan but couldn't make it to MSG. He's coming back in November though.

Re: What Music Are You Listening to at the Moment...[AKA the Music thread]

Feeling very twentieth century this morning, I am listening to Ravel's often unnoticed piano work, Le Tombeau de Couperin.  I only recently noticed it myself although I've had it on a disc with other works for years.  I'm smitten by the first, second, and sixth pieces, Prelude, Fugue, and Toccata.  The others I could leave.

Two brothers visiting plus a son and nephew - mandolin, guitars, etc - plenty of big 14% ++ Oz reds, some duty free Smirnoff and Ardbeg and Little Creatures for that palate cleansing ale. BBQ - prawns at $19 a kilo.

Take me down little suzie....

I'll be in my basement room , with a needle and a spoon......

Today:

Led Zeppelin III

The mighty Zep get all acoustic....Well sort of..

Hangman, hangman,
hold it a little while,
Think I see my friends coming,
Riding a many mile,
Friends, did you get some silver?
Did you get a little gold?
What did you bring me, my dear friends,
To keep me from the Gallows Pole?
What did you bring me to keep me from the Gallows Pole

I must dig out an old cassette tape I had of Joan Sutherland in 'Lucia di Lammermoor'. I suppose Sator will be upset to see the passing of an Australian opera legend.

On a recent motorway trip I listened to 'After the Goldrush' and 'Harvest' by Neil Young to recreate a student bedsit vibe and also 'Kind of Blue' which I got with the 'Ivy Look'. Doing something else like driving helps.

Sounds like a nice trip!

"No Place To Fall" by Townes Van Zandt. Again. And Patrick's reminded me to listen to Wilson Pickett, which will doubtless get me onto Bobby Womack.

Today's gem from the archive...

Bruce Springsteen: Tunnel of Love.

My personal favourite album from The Boss.

Released in '87, Jesus, seems like yesterday.
