Re: Ivy League style for today

As the weather has deteriorated, I've been wearing these Orvis military tartan twill shirts for work:

http://www.orvis.com/store/product.aspx?pf_id=0X01&dir_id=885&group_id=2685&cat_id=15589&subcat_id=15561

They're plugging them on the Orvis webshop, but they've been available for over a year and that's when I bought them.  Sadly, although they represent various services of the USA military, the shirts are manufactured in China.  And despite being 100% cotton, you will become electrically charged when wearing them.

Still, a man's shirt, in a world otherwise plagued by effete yes men. You can't help but be imbued with military discipline and purpose when wearing these, ideal for digging your own virtuous path through the ice, snow and corporate bullshit.

Now then Chenners, being still a virgin, you will not understand the complexities and political intrigues, deals and double crosses, the hidden affairs, compromises and standing one's ground defiant and victorious, the periods of alliances and brief interludes of oneness, the guilty betrayals on business trips, the perfect creation of children, the times you have to captulate just to eat your dinner in peace, that is the endless readiness of battle and ultimate victory that is cohabitation/married life with children.

I fight for every bit of space I get, I live in a house full of four women; you think I'm not proud of this? Guess again. Only a man who truly exists and has created offspring, or raised them, has the authority to sit at my table and speak one to one with authority. All the rest are just children. So my son, come back when you are a man.

I liked your remark previously where you defended the nobility of paying the mortgage. You're a real hep cat. Jack would totally want to go on the road with you.

Chris, if you had bothered to actually read Kerouac, you would understand the message was that the road was dead, and that spiritual salvation can only be found through bebop jazz; the music that will ultimately take us to God on a George Shearing piano riff.

Sal Paradise is a kindred spirit to me, we walk this same December, railroad earth. Digging jazz, Old Grandad, spontaneous be-bop prosody and hard-bop poetics.

Jack/Sal would want to come on the road with me, as I have a place to stay, packed with booze and a jazz collection that say's go man! Go!

You haven't actually read any Beat literature, have you Chenners?

Getting this thread back on track -

Cord Shirt - Dusty Pink!  Get me!  (Cut like a workshirt & would look like prison garb if it was Orange...)
FOTL WHite T
Old Duck Head Khakis
LL Bean Slippers

Sadly my skin is now too sensitive for even an electric razor  -  I bleed too much - And so my refection is increasingly alien to me.

Brushing my teeth also involves much blood too now.

And yet, and yet,

I gotta -

You want to be careful selling your 10.5 D shoes. There's lawyers specialising in veruca and plastic shoes purchased as leather claims.

Blue BB OCBD, olive drab Steppin' Out chinos and the last embers of a log fire that's been burning all day.

That's probably the point NJ, if he got his end away he might chill out a bit. A bad case of "lover's nuts" will make a chap uptight!

Harpo - It comes from living in that cloistered, Ivy-clad environment (even though, in Chenners' case, it is imaginary). It is curious that, being the object of such (fully deserved) disdain here, he posts at all and does not walk away. I know that FNB does not like banning people but, in his case, I'd make an exception.
