BenRiach 16year old.  Taking a break from the Kentucky bourbon, my brain has been feeling rather chicken-fried as of late.

Re: What are you drinking at the moment ?

Had:-
Woodford's Wherry,
Mad Goose Purity,
Dark Star Expresso( half a pint before we left distinct coffee flavour)
in The Gunmakers in Clerkenwell which closes on Christmas Eve till 4th January.

Also got given one of those whisky tasting glasses. So I will see if that makes a difference in due course.

A small batch, organic Mezcal from the Mixe region of Mexico.  Great stuff, unlike any other tequila I have tasted.  Drink it straight from the freezer.

My word, what a lot of connoisseurs.  Small batch Mezcal, highland, lowland, vintage port, etc.  The collective palate about this place is very refined indeed.

Fortunately, the refined palates are matched by equally rugged sharks gullets.

Re: What are you drinking at the moment ?

Kwak from a Chimay glass. Prompted by a visit to a Belgian place in Richmond not far from where the Ivy Shop was. The proper Kwak glass is like a mini yard of ale glass and you need a wooden frame to hold it. Some use frame and glass to drink with. Bizarre.

Best thing about Richmond was The Waterman's Arms beforehand - a proper old Youngs pub that has not been messed around with. Same guvnor as when I was last in and he thanks you for your custom when you leave. An old mans pub, but none the worse for that.

Chambolle Musigny, 1re Cru, Domain Ghislane Barthod - Les Veroilles ’99, nice but not really worth what I paid for it En Primeur quite a few years ago and certainly not worth the current price (not my first wing about Burgundy pricing!)

The Wine Society’s Champagne, a very decent tipple at a sensible price and in terms of value for money a close 2nd to my favourite growers champagne
