Re: Quiet under the Ivy.

Seems to be the case Carpu, there's a definitive whiff of the latter stages of brain syphillis reinforced with CJD over there.

It seems this bespoke fad has driven them all into bitterness and extreme rivalry, and yet, we the anointed immaculate priesthood of the OCBD, realise all along, that true sartorial salvation can be found off the peg, and at very reasonable prices. Well, if you can travel back to the height of the boom period.

Re: Quiet under the Ivy.

Excellent ad, carpu...a feel of Luxe Ivy with the glen plaid (?) suit, strong blue socks, long island iced teas, and a very lovely blonde to boot.

I think the problem over there is the unmooring of good dress from any kind of real community, which is the unfortunate reality nowadays. When you have a stable group of good dressers, there arises a norm of good dress accessible to those with even only two of the three - effort, taste, or money. When it becomes a game for gamesmen, whether igents or not, we get people spiraling out of control and squabbling over everything. Perhaps fundamentally we really can't just dress for ourselves; it's the community that liberates us.

Aye, and this community's DNA is based on effort and taste.

All denominations are valued, so long as they be seekers of the sartorial truth in the glow and the warm shade of the Ivy-tree. Poison it is not, drink from this weejun and you will see The Light:

Ahhh, the Rev. Cleophus James - praise the Ivy Gods indeed!

It's a cabal - and one that I like belonging to. Like Mithras for the weejunairies.

When do we hold a ceremony?

Amen. Once one chooses to see the calm light, there is a clear difference between bragging about and dissecting the minutiae of the latest fashions when contrasted with working to maintain a set of complimentary traditions that makes classic yet individual style possible while forgoing trendy distractions.

Ivyist. That's not a bad word at all.

Quiet classicism...

A style rooted in quality and understatement...

A reflection of a state of mind - Calm, considered, at peace with itself.

- And always with a sense of humour & a love of all the possibilities of life.
