The Fox and Hounds in Passmore Street is the best pub for Sloane Square. Youngs beer. No food.

I'd hazzard that discussing The Admiral unites more people than it casts asunder - A good thing surely?

Re: Admiral Cod...

Laguna Beach seems to attract odd people. Yes, it's in Orange County so it's "behind the Orange curtain" of political right-wingedness yet Laguna Beach is well stocked with aging old gents who do like to ogle the younger gents and hold court in bars. A friend describes the social life of the over-fifty there as a "retirement center for Log Cabin Republicans and the retired department store pianists who entertain them" but I think that's too harsh.

In any case it seems not only possible but also quite common in LB to be an aging fashion iGent and commenter who also has other unpleasant qualities, such as being a racist twerp.

Re: Admiral Cod...

That same friend thinks being a gay Republican is akin to trying to be a tall midget or a Zionist Nazi. In any case, from what people have said of this fake naval officer, it seems entirely possible that what he posts is a reflection of a real life and not simply made-up.

We have pianists in hotels as well, but for some reason many think it a mark of class and distinction to have "live music" while shopping. (I don't really care but I am happy it gives so many pianists steady work.)

Laguna beach was also once home to Howard Rumsey's Lighthouse All Stars, one of the definitive West Coast jazz outfits. The situation has somewhat deteriorated since 1955.

Re: Admiral Cod...

In Britain for every person who says these sort of things theres another 20 who agree but wouldn't dare say so, theres another 20 who disagree and will say so. The more these views are expressed the less daring they'll seem to be. The more there talked about, the more they will unite a silent discontented populous. Thats the reason Nationalist leaders are censored  on T.V and Britain has laws about inciting racial hated. Lots of people think it, just takes a few Cods to stir it up and bang.

Re: Admiral Cod...

From 2007
''By 1999, I had achieved a successful Wall Street career in the mortgage-backed securities (MBS) market. But I wanted a break. So I went to South Africa, a move I had been intending to make for years. I went in part to write, to conduct academic research, and to pursue paramilitary training. And, to be perfectly honest, to look for adventure. South Africa was then, as it is now, undergoing a process of black-on-white crime and ethnic cleansing, and I thought I could play a part in addressing it.''
