Well, it made me laugh anyway...  I rather think that Mr. Laguna is ruling the roost on this one to the exasperation of the rest. Most entertaining. Methinks ol Admiral Cod is a troll of the highest rank.   I am willing to bet that the ol bloke has never lived in Afrika, the UK, or the blue blooded pastures of Connecticut.  But 'ere's the rub -- he is generally an entertaining bugger.  And unlike ol Richtard and others,, he can write when he wants to.

What me thinks most interesting is that on this Board, where blokes openly question, nay castigate, God, religion, every major country and system of belief,, everyone gets all worked up when some troll dare question the Great Cult of Multi-Culturalism.  Whilst TChauncey 'as no idea why the Admiral got hot and bothered on the fictitious 'Arry Potter,, and I 'ave no problem with other races,, me thinks the myths of multi-cultruralism and open borders to be a sham.  In fact,, methinks much of the mult-culti cult is nothing more than Big Corporate welfare to allow a surplus of low paid, undereducated workers to exploit.   Whole developing countries,, instead of developing their own factories to make cheap shoos and whatnot for iGents, are now dependent upon remittances from their relatives in the developed world who work in sweatshops so that iGents can Buy American.   Yes,, TChauncey's Sainteds were once immigrants (on the Mayflower of course,, or was it the Nina).  But twas a different time with more natural resources, ect.   Where there jerky critics like ol Scrod around back then?  Methinks so.

Kudos to ol Russell for keepin it real and bringing up this thread and questioning the group think of ol Chens and others.

We are of course on the verge of a great, great depression which has much to do with the peak of easy oil. The ride is going to get rough, and our economic theories have no solution for what's coming.

Getting rid of any section of the population is not going to rid us of these problems, but the values of wahabism are something we can well do without.

The post grad of the late 60s is the cause of the obsession with being PC, of course all those old attitudes were wrong, as much as I loved The Sweeny as a kid...Back in the 70s Big Ron would have got away with his lazy nucca comment, no way would Andy Gray have got the sack for his sexist comment either. I think the ideal of the interlect back then was for more intergration, its worth remembering that non christian cultures from the commanwealth are now settled in the UK and are 3rd and 4th generation and still, in the main, live in their own "areas". The talk of intergration has been replaced with the more realistic hope for tolerace.  I belive that tolerace had been achieved, the UK has done nothing to help its self allowing mass migration of first eastern europeans and Somalians (many of whom came from Holland ) on the refugee ticket which has been, and continues to be, abused by free loaders and criminals during th 90s, putting back race relations 20 years. This was followed by the right for workers from eastern europe to work in the UK, giving some the chance to raise the issue of wage suppression and lost jobs for UK residents. Add on top of that OBL and his boys and is it any wonder theres tension in the UK? As far as I can see the more muti-culture the UK has will result in more areas of cities hosting peoples from one part of the world. Driving though different districts of London can leave one feeling a little like Phileas Fogg.

In 1954 Allport rightly identified that when a society tolerates 'antilocution' i.e. badmouthing against a minority the conditions are created whereby some people will feel it is acceptable to carry out further more serious acts of discrimination against that minority.

Quite rightly shows like 'Love Thy Neighbour' belong in the past.

However I don't think Allport envisaged the present situation where balanced debate on minority issues would be stifled by political correctness. This climate extends beyond matters of race to many areas of life so we see a minister pilloried and having to make a grovelling apology because of an obvious statement that some rapes are more heinous than others. In an era of growing obesity and its related health problems Kate Moss was lambasted because she said it was better to be thin than fat.  This is a whole new culture of intolerance which is every bit as dangerous as right wing extremism. By not questioning the excesses of some immigrant cultures we, as 4F Hepcat says, open the door to values and practices that are dangerously opposed to our own.

I think the UK for all its faults is still a great country and I still believe that to be born an Englishman is to have won first prize in the lottery of life. Tolerance is one of the foundations of our way of life, but it should cut both ways and we should guard it carefully.

All sounds good Simon, bloody cold though and you might get bored with tall slim natural blondes ;-)

The political correctness charge is a meaningless bait-and-switch, since both the "left" and the "right" apply it in equal amounts to anyone or anyview they don't like.
